@l33t - we’ve now rolled out the functionality for an additional family member to all customers today! ![]()
Does that mean those of us on TestFlight for that can leave TestFlight now? I prefer the more stable releases ![]()
Feel free to leave @Mrberry and you’ll still have access to all the co-adult features. But know that we’d love to keep you on TestFlight!
The final TestFlight build is the one that goes to App Store so is just as stable, it’s just that it’s available a week earlier. Having more folk on there means we can gather feedback before it gets released more widely. You can also turn on auto-updates via the TestFlight app which should make staying on the latest and most stable build super-easy.
But either way, thanks for signing up to test co-adults ![]()
Thanks for giving us the option to add another person to help manage the children’s account. Can I ask if there is a plan to allow the other person some more control, or at least allow the main person to specify the level of control available to the other person/parent?
The one option that comes to mind that would be good to have joint control over is the Spending Limit option. If one or the other parent is with the child shopping, allowing them to be able to quickly and easily adjust the spending limit would be brilliant.
Does this mean that if I setup the child account under my personal account I can also setup my wife with the same level of control and visibility? Or can this be tied to a joint account now too? Is there a post for this as this is something that’s held me off since launch
It’s not tied to your joint account. You invite the second person to give them visibility of the child account.
@mattwaddy Importantly, the second person can only add money to the child account, not remove money, so choose wisely who opens the account and who is added to it.
Thanks for clarifying, it would be great to see full parity of the access once set up rather than limited access for one parent. I guess adding to the balance is key, but still room for improvemen. I’d really like to see it integrated with a joint account too
It’s been mentioned before but it’s unlikely that someone else will be given access to the money in your personal account. The cash held in the kids ‘account’ is essentially YOUR money in a pot.
That makes sense, I think joint accounts (trust relationship) is the key to overcoming that.
Just spotted this on Google wallet (it was announced it would be coming last year but now we’re getting a look at it and seems like it will be rolling out to kids Google accounts over the coming weeks so worth trying to add child account cards to your child’s Google wallet once it goes live.
You can already do this depending on the age of your kid. My fourteen year old son uses Google Wallet for Monzo kids card.
I believe 13 is the minimum age limit imposed by Google.
Yes - 13 yo is the entrance criteria.
I’ve previously used Monzo virtual cards linked to ‘KidA’s pot’ and set that up on the KidA phone and it worked flawlessly - considering KidA was 13yo+ according to Apple. Now the Kiddos have jumped to a 16-17yo account and a proper Child (-16yo) account and they’ve also been flawless.
My husband keeps trying to add me to the Under 16 account for our daughter. He can find me in his contacts, selects me and hits continue.
He receives the following message: Sorry. We can’t add them as a family member.
Please fix this issue as it pretty much makes the account useless and my daughter’s experience is sub-par at best.
Exactly the same thing happened with myself and my wife. Even raised a formal complaint to be told sorry we’re not able to offer it to your wife and can’t tell you why. My wife even submitted a subject access request to check if there was something incorrect but all looks fine. She already has a joint account with me, her own Monzo account and two Monzo business accounts so no idea why she can’t have access to co-parenting on our kids accounts ![]()
I already have two child accounts and my third child is turning 6 in a couple of weeks so I was checking about opening another account for her but the option no longer appears
Going through the help page directs you to a sign up page which also produces an error and asks to try again later.
Any ideas when it’s going to be back?
I can get into the create child account flow from the do more button at the bottom. Another half year until my second child turns 6 and I can do that fully.
Huh?
From the ‘Do More’ button, they can get to the ‘Create Child Account’ flow?
DOH autocorrect gone mad and me failing to proof read. Should be better now.
