Meet the next generation: Monzo for Under 16s 🎉

Been told i would receive a email after the waitlist process but this is what happened to me after I also done what you said but still the same outcome

I suspect the link you’re clicking in the email is broken. It was like that for my friend too.

If you’re off the waitlist now and allowed to open one, you’ll need to find the option yourself in the app and then it should work. I think if you scroll to the bottom of the home tab and tap the do more button you should find the option to open one there.

May as well. You’ve called them for other random guff before have you not?

I called them to make sure they were being as stupid as they were saying on their website, and they confirmed they were being stupid. So all is well :joy:

Just updated to the very latest 6.6.0 and still no joy. Turns out I’m awful at being patient.

Has this shipped on iOS yet?

I know everyone’s dying to know so - got it just now :tada:

Edit: gave it a wee whirl. Never used monzo.me before. It’s fairly simple. It’ll do for now.

We are excited to launch a new feature this week, just in time for the festive season! :gift:

From today, you will be able to share payment links with friends and family so they can send money directly to your child (cutting out the faff of you having to transfer it over).

You’ll find ‘Share payment link’ in the three dots menu on your child’s card in the app.

Your child can receive up to ÂŁ250 in total over a 30 day period using these links and if you need to, you can reset the link to remove access at any point.

Many more exciting things are coming very soon, but in the meantime, we hope this one comes in handy! :crossed_fingers:

Screenshotted, noted and pinned to a giant board in the kitchen.

Let’s see what happens.

Just got the notification through for it - sent the link to my partner, who used it to send a couple of quid to the kids’ accounts. However, they do NOT then seem to save as payment contacts in her Monzo app - why is this? Surely after she has set a nickname for herself and sent money, she should be able to set up recurring standing orders or send one-off payments to the accounts again in future? Does she need to tap the link every time?

Ah yes, this is intentional. :+1: Since payment links give access to paying a child’s account, we only want people to be able to pay using that link while it’s active. You have the ability to be able to reset a payment link at any point and revoke access.

So yes unfortunately, your partner will have to click on that link each time they want to make a payment, as we don’t want to expose your child’s account to other senders if you ever choose to expire the link.

Ahhhhh yeah that makes sense now I know there’s a link reset option! Maybe something for the product roadmap
I can add “trusted payees” to the child’s account so they can save the payment info and always pay in? It won’t be as much of a problem if co-parenting features are coming - can always just send a link to aunts/uncles/grandparents around birthday/christmas

Yeah this is a slight workaround for now until the co-parenting comes which is a big need for us right now.

Have you tried deleting the app, restarting your phone & reinstalling?

IF not - what are you trying to do?!

You haven’t actually said what the problem is yet. The community has asked you for context, steps taken, and screenshots. We can’t surmise much from one isolated screenshot with no context.

Someone tried to help you but you don’t read or listen.

Try looking in the app for the option to set it up. Ignore the email link.
