MasterCard SecureCode / 3D Secure

Is this safe tho? the secure code is used for a reason i presume

It’s all still SecureCode. V2 is a massive improvement on V1

Does anyone know of a website that sells very cheap things (around 1Ā£) and enforces 3DS? I want to try it now.

Yes good question I would like to try too.

I think next use it? Could then cancel order.

I’ve read that Trainline apparently uses it, but can’t confirm. You could try buying a railcard-discounted same-day anytime single from Ryde Esplanade to Ryde St Johns Road. This should avoid the booking fee (same-day travel) - should be around Ā£0.95.

Actually I have this one beat. Lichfield City to Lichfield Trent Valley w/ railcard is Ā£0.45  You can get it down to Ā£0.35 if you buy a child’s ticket.

I hope there’s the option to opt out of SMS OTP, it’s far from the most secure option.

https://www.poundshop.com/ no joke, uses Worldpay, so guessing it will go via 3d secure! Unless they let sites opt out.

** I take that back, small print says small payments will not go via 3ds

Trainline didn’t send my payment via 3D secure today.

@Damo1977 same here when I tried.

It hasn’t launched yet! Sorry if my photo gave false hope.

I wasn’t asked to anything… I think it’s just sneaking up as it’s in the works

@Rika Any update on 3D Secure launching?

would that explain why I have had a card payment rejected. It went through to the 3dsecure type screen , but didn’t ask me or give me the oppportunity to do anything. The vendor says that because the card is ā€œenrolledā€ they won’t allow transactions that are not verified :frowning:

Hmm, I’ll try and take a look into the logs on that one. We’ve already seen some badly misbehaving merchants!

Do you need any details? it’s my other half’s card

Transaction amount 427.20 at / around 2018-08-03 09:55:45 UK time if that helps.

Was accepted (by the system) but then subsequently rejected by the merchant 3 hours later:

I am sorry but we are unable to accept the payment details on your order due to the following reasons :

  • Your card has been entered into the ** Mastercard Verified Scheme, but no Verified Authorisation Code was entered for your card. Perhaps you bypassed entering your Verified Security Password in error ?"

We just made our first successful purchase with a Monzo card at Coinbase! :raised_hands:

@anon36424455 This should now be fixed but if not, will be next week.

Is this what you are asking? You will be able to GBP Faster Payment bank transfers over the next few weeks to avoid fees in.

Its available now in theory. The problem is they are rolling it out slowly over the next few weeks for current UK users. I keep checking that my account has been updated but it hasn’t. I wonder if it just works for new accounts?

You are right, from what I have seen, existing users have not been upgraded and still are not able to deposit GBP into their Coinbase GBP (still inactive) wallet on Coinbase website/app. :pensive:

New customers first and others to to follow later :disappointed_relieved:

Edit:
What remains to be seen is how willing some UK banks will be to cooperate with Coinbase? Will some of them block transfers to Coinbase?
