I’ve just come across this, which might interest you all.
Can’t wait to get my first ‘your face has been exposed to a data retention leak, please change it immediately’ email
Or you’re expecting to pay £30, but smile in astonishment because they’re charging you £50 which is clearly a joke, and discover that you’ve just paid.
Yeah I’ll skip this one, just ensure I can pay any amount anytime via GooglePay and jobs done.
How is this more secure than Pay or GPay?
Seems like this is yet another “we’re doing this because it’s now technically possible” whilst ignoring the bleedingly obvious fact that the security environment will have inevitably changed in 10 years meaning everyone will be perfectly appalled we ever let a corporation access our biometrics so freely for so little gain.
My guess is that it less about being more secure than other payment channels and more about MasterCard being able to bypass them, as well as bringing biometric security to those who don’t have access to it.
