I wanted to see if anyone from the UK could tell me if these toggles do anything on the app there? My original understanding from the USA roadmap when this was added was that these would hide/show the Jar transactions from the home screen activities. I prefer to have them hidden and only show what’s coming out of the main spending, but toggling these don’t seem to do anything in the USA. Whether they are on or off, I see no change in what’s presented on the home screen in activity.
When you tick the boxes they should show transactions within your main screen activity.
Untick them and the movements shouldn’t show unless it’s a credit from Jar to main account, which you should just see the credit, not the withdraw from Jar.
We don’t have Jars here we have Pots, they should work in the same manner.
Hi @themrallen & welcome ![]()
In the
app, the ‘pot’ transactions (UK version of ‘jars’) are hidden in the Activity feed if the Edit activity toggle for the pot is off. Toggling the pot to ‘On’ results in the pot transactions being displayed in the Activity feed. It works as expected here.
From your screenshot, you’ve only got 4 transactions viewable in the Activity feed - could it be that you haven’t got any ‘House Bills / HOA / YouTube Sunday Ticket / Cash back’ transactions in the last 4 transactions? Or do the jar transactions still show when toggled OFF and you tap on ‘See all’ at the bottom of the Activity feed?
The screen in your screenshot is to configure your combined feed.
The tickboxes would also affect what is displayed when clicking “See all” (at least it does in the UK). The homescreen will only show the latest items from the combined feed, so if your last 4 transactions are from your main account and not from the selected Jars then you won’t see any from those Jars. As soon as one of your 4 most recent transactions is from a Jar, it would appear on the homescreen.
When you toggle the Jars on, do you see the Jar transactions in the full “See all” combined feed?
Thanks everyone for the replies. This confirms my issue and sent in a bug report. Right now these toggles don’t change my home feed if turned on or off. The initial response from the US team is that this was brought over from the UK model and possibly got lost in the shuffle of actual implementation of the UI element to the backend.
I really hope that gets fixed, as I’d like it to function exactly as you all have mentioned. I shouldn’t see the transactions into the Jars/Pots, only if I pulled money back out into the main spend.
There’s two parts to this.
When loading your main account by tapping your account tile, it will show all movements.
Just tapping see all activity from the Home Screen should essentially remove pot/Jar movements.
Hmm. Carlo, if you have the toggles off does it hide it in the account view and then only show them if you click “all activity”? Now I’m confused on what it’s actually hiding. So it will always show the debit from the main account and only hide the credit to Jar/Pot in “all activity”?
Let me share a screenshot to help sort my thoughts. I interpret those toggles for the Jars/Pots should hide any transaction out of my main spend account I’m seeing here? I should only see transactions like the green one back into the main spend account. I should still have visibility of them happening, but only when I click all activity.
Jars should be out of sight, out of mind on the home screen to help mindfreak the savings behind the scenes like it never happened.
The screenshot is showing you the transactions in your main account - and where the debits are going to (‘Pot name’ and “From Personal”). This will always be shown.
If you toggle the all the jars to ON (Activity feed → Edit), you should also see the credits into the jars shown, in addition to the debits from the Personal account, in the Activity feed. But only 4 transactions will be shown. I’ve got 5 as a max setting in the UK app - can you increase to 5 in the US app?
AH, I see where there is some confusion.
Anything that impacts your main account will show, which would include transferring funds to/from a Jar will still show that transaction. Anything that ONLY impacts the Jar would be hidden when disabled (things like interest, purchases, etc.)
Got it. I’d expect it to work the opposite lol. Anything added to savings Jar shouldn’t show as a transaction, that way I’m tricking myself into not losing money, but rather saving money. At least in the main home screen activity. I’d like to still be able to see it if I drill into all activity. Thanks for the clarifications everyone.
This was explained here.
