iOS Shortcuts integration is here!

Hey everyone!

I’m Matt, an iOS engineer here at Monzo, and I’m really excited to tell you about a feature that makes managing your money even faster - Shortcuts integration for Monzo!

What’s new?

We’ve added native Shortcuts support to the Monzo app. This means you can access your most common money tasks as iOS shortcuts that open directly to the relevant parts of the app, available in the Shortcuts app and Spotlight search.

You can now quickly:

  • Pay - Jump straight to sending money to someone
  • Request - Start a money request in just a tap
  • Move - Move money between your accounts

How to use it

From Spotlight: Just swipe down on your iOS home screen and search for “Monzo” you’ll see Monzo shortcuts appear as App Actions you can tap to jump straight in.

From the Shortcuts app: Find our shortcuts under the Monzo section. From there you can:

  • Add them to your device’s Home Screen as quick-launch icons
  • Include them in your own custom automations

If you have multiple accounts (like a personal, joint or business account), you’ll be asked which one you’d like to use - then you’re taken straight to the right screen.

Bonus: These shortcuts also work with Siri! Just say things like “Monzo transfer money” or “Monzo move money” if you prefer using your voice.

We’d love your feedback!

If you already have app version 7.10.0, you’ll have access to this feature. We’d love to hear how you find it:

  • Are there other actions you’d love to see as shortcuts?
  • How are you using them?
  • Any issues or rough edges?

Drop your thoughts in this thread - your feedback helps us make these features even better!

I only have one account, and get this which I feel is a bit irrelevant, is there a way for the app to talk to the shortcuts to understand I don’t have any other accounts?

I thought it would just jump me straight in the app after tapping Pay or Move.

Looks like if you set up a custom Shortcut with the same action you can pre-determine the account it will pay with.

Does that then auto jump to the app or still make you choose?

If I select personal account, it jumps straight into the pay screen from my personal account.

*looks forlornly in Android*

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. We can certainly look to improve this so if you have just one account you jump straight in the app
