Hallelujah. And you can revert to the old style too.
I’ve also noticed this bug as well very random
Also had the wake-up bug for the last few betas. However, it hasn’t happened since I installed the latest beta yesterday evening.
I agree with this. It feels more like it belongs and makes sense now. I feel the put it at the top toggle is a mistake for people who won’t want to give it a try. I can see something going round social media as soon as ios15 comes out saying have safari back to normal, just change this setting. Which is a shame (if I’m right)
I love it.
Safari is now back in my dock in place of Firefox.
Recent Apple has this really annoying habit of removing useful UI elements and I’m very glad they’ve reverted in this instance.
I read that shareplay is gone from the beta but might be back in a .1 update. I wonder why they removed it? Not working as expected maybe
The FaceTime and all SharePlay working on web browsers etc sounds like a big undertaking. I read they promised by end of the year and it has happened with one feature or another in the last couple of years.
My hope is there is no need for it once it is released!
Thanks. I think they’re a year late for shareplay. Could have been fun in lockdown
Just got the updated Safari on the public beta and I’m glad.
Sorry Apple, I tried. I prefer the address bar at the top.
Am trying out safari again on latest public beta.
With access to actual controls/settings at the bottom too… I’m quite liking this.
I love Opera on iOS but downloads are much more annoying than they should be, and ofc it doesn’t integrate with safari content blockers (although its blocking is usually p good).
Gonna see how this goes
Side note: the bottom bar/iOS 15 safari is treating this forum weirdly. Such that I can’t see the ‘reply’ button or scroll down to it unless I close down the keyboard.
Having switched to Firefox for a while, I found it annoying how third party browsers are limited on iOS.
Biggest miss for me was Apple Pay on the web. It’s frustrating that they’re forced to use Webkit, but excluded from all the good features on top.
Yeh it will be interesting to see it’s development over time or if they park it. I read recently that Apple is building its own social network but not through one app like Facebook for example, but iMessage, FaceTime and Photos apps linking in with their services. I thought that was a neat concept
Ah yeah, that is annoying too! Very early stages but I think I might be back to safari tbh. And I’ve been away for at least 2/3 years I think? So big change for me.
These things are really complicated, but not a great sign.
Finally!!! I accidentally mute my phone with my cheek all the time it’s so frustrating not knowing you’ve done it
Just a little update to say I’m getting on with iOS 15 safari very well now and have found two cool gestures with the bottom url/nav bar.

I think others may know this already but pulling the URL bar up into the middle of the screen takes you to the tab overview page (same as zooming out on iPad).
-
Swiping/pulling left on the URL bar when on your newest (most to the right) tab instantly opens a new tab! You can see the ‘+’ button coming into screen on screenshot below:
Ooh that’s cool. The URL bar at the bottom still looks super weird to me but I suspect its one of those changes that I will be completely on board with within a week.
Public beta 8 is out now.
