Introducing our new neon cards! šŸ‘€

Where in-app do you see that?

Ah I see. Looks like my allowances are too low for that, that’s probably why.

I didn’t even know this was a thing! :joy:

My yellow is blurry in certain parts but as you say it’s just a card at the end of the day

Almost every site that has a card image IE: Amazon, PayPal etc all show my card colours and always has done by updating it instantly by themselves. I don’t remember having to do anything either it’s just done it.

My green finally arrived, I think the quality is okay besides the MasterCard logo have inconsistent black lines around the circles.

It does look like the monzo is supposed to be 3d block lettering, I’ll try get a good picture but from a half arms length the card looks normal to me.

I know the picture colour is horrendous but it’s easier to see what I mean

Other than when the card arrives and you examine it, are you ever going to look closely enough again?

If it turns up with a dodgy chip or your name is spelt wrong, that’s one thing but ordering a new card because the logo is a tad blurry seems a bit OTT to me.

I always add stuff in the app when possible. When cards are added it usually sends me micro transactions of 1p and ask me to enter the code on the reference of the transaction or it asks me to confirm via the monzo app.

That’s why I’m keeping my yellow.
As long as the card works, it’s the correct type and my details are correct then it’s good enough for me.

Oh wow! Almost everywhere asks me to do a card check/card verification (which I absolutely love as it’s keeping me safe)

Sometimes I’ve had to do both such as when I signed up to PayPal, it’ll send the micro transaction (usally lets you keep the 1p :money_mouth_face:) then after I’ve put in the code it’ll send a verification asking me to confirm in app.

Maybe it’s changed recently but when I upgraded to plus I when it got released, a few things didn’t switch by themselves (the photos changed from hot coral to blue but the card number didn’t change but this time around the photo changed from blue to yellow along with details) or if it’s because It was a new Amazon account at the time but as I say PayPal did the same aswell.

Amazon usually has a trust rating for customers: if you’re really trusted they’ll refund products without even having to return them, but if you’re not trusted they’ll always want photos for evidence. I was new at the time my account had no history therefore probably wanted to make sure it was definitely me with the laws getting tighter.

at the end of the day its a bank card the cashier does not examine it and say ohh its a bit blury we cant accept your card do they , you point it at the terminal it goes beep the cashier dosnt even care what the card is as long as it goes approved on their side thats all they are worried about have a nice day probably given me a reason now to quit this form

Yeah that’s probably why they don’t send you a card check since they’re probably more likely to believe it’s you (just my assumptions since when I switched my Amazon to a virtual card it never asked me last month but the trust level is real)

It’s great tho not having to return the stuff, I love it when they say it to me as I don’t have to trek to post office.

I would also love to hear this!

I think this is the result of the print process. I’m gonna wager a guess that the cards are printed in an offset print process.

There’s a thing called ā€œtrappingā€ that happens when registration of two different colours isn’t quite perfect; either colour 1 is overlaid on colour 2, or you get a gap where the registration didn’t land and a white spot.

You can see the effect on the image in row 4 with imperfect registration

I mentioned trapping further up but it got lost among the noise from people expecting a bit too much from a debit card.

Mines not great condition yellow with marks but will keep as it’s still great colour and shows the neon off.

Those of you who ordered a replacement has it arrived today?

Yeah same here. The yellow is lovely.

This first ā€˜other’ card I pulled out was my Starling card - and that also very much has the same quirk.

Again, it’s a debit card - not some exotic collectors item.

exactly is a card that if you dont use your phone to go beep with then you use this , its not some thing thats going to end up at auction for a gazilion pounds as some folk would make out , mines is in the wallet and probably will never see the light of day unless my phone is flat

I was going to create a topic to ask the value of my limited edition card every couple of months
