What like this person is doing here?
Also not illegal in the UK anyway though. Just a crazy thing in the US
Yes, the lounge access is nonsense. People know when they are going to be flying and can book the lounge in advance for less (or the same). Besides which, lounges you have to pay around to £25 to get into are generally poor compared to those provided by airlines, or lounges at the premium end of the scale.
Well given it’s perfectly legal and normal to unlock a phone in the UK and your carrier will often help you do it - why the restriction?
Where’s Revels and what have you done with him! ![]()
Can we see how you got to £7?
Is it just me who can’t read any of the terms and conditions pages in the iOS app because the cookie notice can’t be dismissed (and the bottom web view controls are disabled preventing the page from being opened in safari)?
In addition, it mentions not being liable to pay for a replacement card if an ATM swallows the card, which is good. I have, however, previously had a coral card swallowed by a ticket machine in a train station, would I be liable for the cost of a replacement in that instance?
Assuming a lot have seen it but
Didn’t the old plus that got scrapped offer you a discount if you paid the whole year in advanced or am I mistaken?
I still keep my Smile Bank account open as I get breakdown cover, travel insurance, mobile phone insurance and 4 free lounge visits a year for £15.50 a month, still nothing beats it.
Wow @Acdeag that is really good!
I don’t remember ever seeing that
This actually sounds excellent.
The only downside is you’ve selected one of the worst insurers for mobile phones. They openly admit to using non-standard off brand parts in devices and often send poorly refurbished ones made up of repaired devices which have been claimed on.
This part is very disappointing.
To me it’s better because it contains some things I might actually pay for.
The travel insurance is decent, although only really worth it if you are travelling to North America, otherwise you can get a policy for much cheaper. A quick search says that you can get a policy with similar coverage as this one for about £75, but about £40-50 if you exclude NA from the policy (and of course if you are only travelling once or twice a year, single trip insurance will be far cheaper still).
Phone insurance looks okay too, although you would get a far better deal by looking at adding your phone to your house insurance (my £110 contents insurance already covers all our phones, laptops etc and that only cost £30 more than the basic policy).
Still, unlike plus there’s a few things I can attach a meaningful monetary value to. I do also think, people can always get better deals than these packaged insurance with bank account things if they put some work in to find products that actually suit them (like a few hours a year), but I guess this is targeted at the young / naive / previously uninsured types who see it as a bonus (and have a whopping £15 a month to spend on it!). Most older adults will already have some level of insurance anyway, or will have decided they don’t need it.
But maybe for the Monzo market it’ll do okay.
Also I got pretty annoyed when I saw the Twitter ad that mentioned ‘airport lounge access’ and then checked here to find out it doesn’t, in fact, include airport lounge access
I just wanted a metal card lol
Who is a good one?
I rarely use my card nowadays, I find it more of a pain getting the card out when I can pay with my phone or watch.
I cannot remember the last time I actually used a card.
Me neither, and if I do want a card for show, like in a fancy restaurant or something, I use the Amex gold. Nothing looks cooler than an Amex Gold or Platinum imo
