If you were given £100,000, what would you do with it?

After clearing my debts I’d put it into some kind of savings to use eventually as a deposit. £100,000. I’d need a much bigger deposit than that if I was to buy a house in my village :frowning:

To me the house/flat idea is the perfect one. It’s what I would do. I have even just been on right move looking lol

Although I could do with it myself for a house deposit I’d give it to my parents. They could get a small retirement flat for 100k.
If I was being frivolous though I’d buy dinner and invite Benedict Cumberbatch!

Im just trying to work out who to send it to!

Rewire my whole house, new kitchen, new boiler. 50k Deposit for a second house/flat (auction) and do that up with the rest of the money, and keep property developing from there

100% first thing is pay off debts.

Then house deposit.

Then a MacBook Pro with touch bar.

Then a trip to Canada.

Then back to work…

£100k would allow me to look at my local community and set up a not for profit. I’ve always thought it would be fun to look at a traditional profit based business and try and set up a competitive not for profit or coop. Imagine a local Deliveroo, or Uber, but where all the profits went to improving the company rather than investors

House deposit. Nice holiday. House upgrades for my mum and grandparents. Save whatever’s left!

Maybe a bit of Scrooge McDuck style antics at the start though :smirk:

Investing it in my company, so I can actually have some decent runway and afford to take a loss at the beginning.

Buy a house outright with it and my current deposit. I live a long way from London  .

I was lucky enough to inherit such sum … the only thing I did so far is staring at it.

10% to charity
10% to friends and family (in some form)
80% on the mortgage (as much as I’d like to buy a tesla!)

Speaking from experience?

Turn it into £200k!

I would probably pay off my mortgage, then quit work and go on a Tuk Tuk rally across India and then go see some great white sharks in South Africa. I doubt I’d have much left then but if I did it would probably go on an electric car :red_car::dash:

If you were lucky enough to invest the max amount in all 3 Monzo rounds you may very well soon have £100,000.

Maybe that’s the story? :joy:

Unoriginal, but would totally go towards a deposit on a house. If there is anything left, I’d probably consider a proper holiday/honeymoon for the wife and I (11 yeas late!).

I’d use it as a deposit on a buy to let property :+1: Get myself a nice little secondary income without having to worry too much about a large mortgage on it.
