I think that people need to understand that the problem of deriving accurate software delivery dates from a set of requirements is a very difficult exercise and almost no-one gets it right when launching a major new platform.
I’m also very eager to get stick into using a Monzo current account but as Alexs implied, the damage done by a premature launch riddled with issues will be far worse than delaying a product that eventually works.
Cheers Alex! - Should of looked harder before posting it’s been a few weeks since I last searched for anything like this but exactly what I was looking for
Maybe Monzo want a range of people, not just an echo chamber of people who know about payment processing and coding (which is also the majority of Monzo staff). You’re not a very good bank if you can only appeal to people like you rather than a wide range of people including my grandma or someone equally less tech savvy.
Besides, if it’s true that you “spend 80% of my card use abroad travelling globally” you’re not eligible anyway yet, since the blog about the preview says:
“At this early stage, in order to be eligible for the current account, you’ll need to have been a Monzo customer for at least six months, with the majority of your transactions made in GBP in the UK and be a UK resident.”
I work for an app and get loads of emails from people who have all these credentials with what they consider fantastic new ideas. The majority of them though are useless, and they haven’t thought about the use case beyond themselves. So knowing about banks or coding or any product doesn’t mean you’re automatically best placed to test it.
I never said they wouldn’t want a range… Only asked about the option which turns out is already there and in the most possible user friendly way as possible.
I thanked Alexs for pointing in the right direction and as far as I’m concerned that’s great.
(EDIT: Spending card use 80% of the time while travelling doesn’t mean most of my transactions on the actual card aren’t in GDP while being a UK resident. The two are not mutually exclusive although I did word it rather badly in hindsight)
