Indeed, it’s the people that live thousands down and live month to month like that that get screwed over the most, for a lot of people they will be better off if it’s a quick dip of a small amount.

My partner just went in Natwest to transfer money from savings into his Monzo account (because you can no longer transfer savings out of a Natwest savings account unless you have a Natwest current account). He was told he had to pay £23 to do the transfer. Ended up closing his account because that way it could all be transferred for free. Seems nuts to me! He didn’t want to transfer it all out but has ended up doing that. Are other banks doing this?
