It says £75k min income and that you must pay it into your account though?

They give you 6 months to qualify. Whether they actually check after 6 months is another matter. I’ve qualified from the start (although they didn’t ask for proof).

They give you 6 months to meet the qualification criteria.

Probably somewhere like Turkey.

I like the HSBC UK Premier account particularly for the free travel insurance that comes with the account.

So much this.

HSBC are probably one of the easiest banks in terms of knowing where you stand. If they don’t want you they’ll just (politely) tell you.

Also, just to make this really explicit, if you plan on continuing to bank with them long term I really wouldn’t bother with the HK card.

You run the real risk of being completely locked out, for life, by them.

I’m referring to the UK Premier account, not the HK one. I know of two people who have had a UK Premier account for over a year now and they don’t qualify.

It’s similar to the Child & Co or Drummonds thing - it’ll die down once they get over the novelty.

They say not.

Childs and Drummonds have been like this for years.
It’s just a RBS account. With the difference of cool cards and no CASS

Yes, foreigners abroad.

If you are a permanent resident of the UK, with no ties or travel/work reasons I’d absolutely expect them to question the need for the account. Given they have UK alternatives.

I don’t work for them so I can’t say for definite but I’d say it’s not misinformation, just calling out a risk.

What did you expect haha? I’m pretty sure some here have registered a business just to get some business cards

How much can you take the p*ss with this? I don’t want to send money in for no reason because I’ll only be sending it back to monzo

Child’s and Drummonds do support CASS. I’ve CASSd into and out of them.

I’m already regretting my decision to open one as I guarantee I’ve caused myself to be audited at self assessment by doing that

If I had to guess what makes them decide to audit someone, a person born in Ireland living in the UK opening a bank account in Hong Kong would be very high up my list

I’m pretty sure they get notified when you open one nearly anywhere in the world right? “Oh yeah that one was just for the card”

I doubt you did, even if 50 people do it they probably issue thousands a day to their real HK customers… I doubt the process is that different other than clicking print shipping label from DHL instead of whatever they normally do

This is going to fail epically  Keep some money in a UK bank so you can buy your unexpected ticket to HK

Wouldn’t be half surprised if we who opened this for no reason yesterday have accounts closed on Monday

Now what’s this RBS account with the fancy card I can get :eyes:

Also with the HSBC One Account you get a £20 Account Opening Bonus which is quite cool.

Does have a few requirements thou.

Two on offer. Childs & co and Drummonds. You need to open them via the special form (available via the MSE forum).
