HSBC Chat

Just checked the Lloyds website and it says the £18 fee is free for Private customers but doesn’t seem to refer to Premier customers.

Shame as I wouldn’t bother moving my S&S ISA away from them if this was the case.

Ye I was going to ask this too. I thought this was only for Private and I think the legacy Premier account used to get it too. Interestingly I opened a S&S ISA with the last week and I got a letter saying Private and Premier customers don’t pay the fee but I assumed it was an outdated letter them haven’t updated and it was referring to the legacy account.

Are you definitely not paying the fee?

Although I did a comparison and the £36 annual platform fee is still a lot cheaper than all the other high street banks

Scottish Widows is free and is basically the same thing, with cheaper per-trade fees as well. Scottish Widows website is an eyesore though, maybe the Halifax share dealing looks better?

Don’t think HSBC Premier is the best ‘premium’ bank account around, but the fact I can open foreign bank accounts and instantly move money overseas is the only reason I keep the account.

The travel insurance is also a nice one, complements the Amex one quite well. Some of the Home&Away benefits are nice too.

They are. They’ve given me until the 10th July to comply otherwise I’ll be downgraded to a basic bank account (not even Advance). I have one more ISA currently being transferred which will let me meet the criteria.

HSBC Premier has similar health insurance and I get most of the other things with other cards. Anyway, it’s good that there’s some choice for different people.

I think if I had to change I’d most likely go with Nat West Premier.

They told me to ring and get a code, I haven’t got round to that yet. I’ll let you know!

Ye let me know how that goes. Will try and do the same and if doesn’t work may chuck a complaint in about the letter being wrong :slightly_smiling_face:

Complain after they have charged you. You will get a better reward

The travel insurance is quite good - and covers a lot of pre-existing conditions that others want you to pay a supplement for.

Out of interest what type of things does Home&Away offer? Is it just what anyone can see by going on the Home&Away site? If so, they’re a load of rubbishy things IMO.

On the HSBC website it lists ‘Everyday banking with retail offers’ as a benefit of their Bank and Advance accounts (and I guess Premier) but don’t say what these offers are, perhaps it is these.

There are quite a few things in the rewards section separate to Home and Away - I double-dipped and booked a table for two at the Ivy through HSBC for a free bottle of champagne, then used my Amex credit (which was due to expire) for the meal so the whole thing cost me a couple of quid plus tip. Not too bad fizz either.

Reminds me of the first Midland card I had with the HSBC logo:

I must’ve had a very similar version of that, only with a Solo logo, as one of my first cards. They came into high school and helped us open them.

Ah, I had the pre-Solo LIVE!CASH card before this one:

Can you tell it was a 90s design?!

I remember getting this too. They came into my school and I got a free football for opening it there and then. Already had a NatWest Solo card but needed the football :joy:

Anyone know what the online Faster Payments limit for Premier is?

Faster Payments is £100k per day via app for Premier.

CHAPS has no limits but must be instructed by phone.
