You are likely correct. Although I didn’t query their species (it would have been rude), I do believe the individual I was chatting to was human…
You’d hope, with the necessary training to ensure a consistent baseline of service quality.

I see you haven’t worked in customer service
Thankfully I’ve avoided ever working in customer services. I can think of few things worse than dealing with people like me all day long.
Even if it’s reality, poor service should still be called out. Acceptance would be unwise.
They even missed your “name” out. Poor attention to detail.
I hadn’t noticed that.
Perhaps their particular type of personality makes them prone to such mistakes, therefore we must surely forgive them. Humans etc
Sadly, I fear the use of and other unnecessary imagery is a tone change of some sort, as I’ve since chatted to a different operative about an unrelated issue and the same happened.
Just to clarify, no aspect of my complaint is about their use of . I’m not quite that miserable!
Slowly creeping into the cool club, though a bit annoyed I did the eligibility on the standard card I did go out and try the BT card but it wouldn’t let me.
Ah well.
Still aiming for an Advance account at some point? Surely can’t be far off?
Think I have 3-4 more months of salary in before shooting for that.
It was on there but I took it off earlier before the screenshot. Same for monzo, I never use them.
I’m half tempted to get the HSBC Premier CC … but don’t have any use for it …
I did a currency check of Wise vs HSBC Global to receive USD. I was around £60 better off with Wise. So Global Account doesn’t make much sense for me as I convert straight to GBP.
People have been saying that Global Money has become a bit poor value with the exchange rates. Most other methods seem to be cheaper now
Are you likely to often check it though? Ours is not with HSBC and honestly I don’t really check, like ever. My wife banks with , and maybe like once every few months we’ll be like “oh look it’s gone down” but that’s about it.
In terms of the app I risk being called a FanBoy but I think it’s fine. It covers the basics well, but it’s no Fintech. And crucially, their CS is light years ahead of Monzo, which for me is a big deal.
Notifications are normally nearly instant, the plan tab is ok but could do with a few improvements (custom dates, excluding transfers etc) and the new design is a significant improvement on the previous one.
I think the aim of Global Money was to help keep people in house who just wanted convenience. Works well enough for me, I really can’t be arsed checking rates for the 2-3 times a year it gets used abroad.
I transfer around 4-8 times a year and it’s not much hassle with Wise. Yes I’d like less apps etc but £50 upwards is worth the hassle.
I’ve been running the new beta app and I actually don’t mind it.
Choose the accounts you want visible on the Home Screen, balance after bills underneath gives me immediate view of upcoming spending.
Swipe once to the pay screen, twice to cards.
They could have the option to remove invest, and then once more again to bring up all the products etc page.
Tend not to give notice to the notifications layout any more but they are near instant.
Yes, you can use the app as a mortgage-only customer.
I deposited a cheque via the HSBC app over the weekend (a rarity as I despise cheques).
Should it show as pending? There is nothing showing and there doesn’t appear to be any feature to track the cheque deposits either.
I don’t particularly care how long it takes to clear, I’m just not sure it even worked.
Wondered if there is a tracking feature that I’ve missed? If not, I’ll check with CS.
Monzo would have shown it as pending, I don’t think Starling do.
Starling usually credit cheques around 09:00 on the Tuesday if a cheque is deposited on a weekend, Monzo wait until around 16:00.
No, HSBC don’t show pending cheques until they have cleared.
Like you, i wish they did do so though.
Thanks. It cleared at 4pm today FYI.
It’s a feature I hope to never have to use again.
An archaic form of payment.
