How would Monzo's UI react to having a balance of millions in an account? Just curious

Multi-billionaires had better watch out though, unless you’re using bigints everywhere it might do weird things above 2.14 billion, or 2,147,483,647. Would be fun to try going higher than that to see what breaks. EDIT - sorry didn’t see the post from staff mid-thread above talking about int32 vs int64, have you tried billions? It’d be fun to see if anything breaks.
I remember during one of the hackathons you gave us access to your dev api and you could add negative transactions which was fun - we ended up with thousands on the old pulse graph while testing, but I didn’t think to try larger numbers.

Perhaps the billionaire should transfer to bitcoin.
Then they wouldn’t have to worry about:

  • banks pretending to have enough money
  • inflation devaluing their money
  • transfer fees
  • liquidity
  • having their account blocked (by bank or government)
  • accessing it from anywhere in the world

Just a small detail

Makes me sad that if I won the lottery or struck it big on stocks, I’d have to hold my money in such an archaic account with terrible online UX :sob:

Rika’s one of my favourite people at Monzo as she’s singlehandedly taught me more than I ever thought I’d want to know about debit cards and the EMV network. Her (I think it was investival) talk on Monzo’s cards was brilliantly informative and entertaining! Kudos!

If you win the lottery you’ll have your own personal banker at your beck-and-call. You’ll never need to touch another banks UX again.

I don’t know about that. I’d login multiple times a day to see them pounds :moneybag: :moneybag: :moneybag:

So if I won the lottery

Let’s say set for Life, £10,000 every month

Would you be fine to have it paid in to monzo

Or would you need a private bank

Lottery set for Life on tonight so … :crossed_fingers:

Truth is, if were in that position, that’s probably what I’d do. Have the lump sum held in investments/private banking, with monthly withdrawals to my Monzo account for spending.

That said, maybe the Coutts app is incredible. I wouldn’t know

That’s an image of the Coutts app from the Google Store. Says it all about the kind of balances they will be expecting!!

If your bank uses “wealth” instead of “balance” you know you’re loaded

Look at all that space for more numbers

Maybe if Monzo renamed Pots as “Wealth Buckets”, they might attract a few more billionaires…

And refer to cash as ‘fun coupons’

We’ve clearly got the foundations here for a new fintech bank for the mega rich.

I’ll get started on the crowdfunding campaign…

Well look no further than that Coutts :sob:app screenshot, it’s no Monzo  interface

We’ve just got to convince everyone to forget our master plan that we published on the internet

I’d like my overall account balance to be referred to as ‘vault value’…
