How we upgraded 3D Secure

That’s all good, just asking :grinning:

But if there was a “Card present” solution for e-commerce wouldn’t that help everyone in the payment supply chain? And if you’re the guy “transalting that legal document” surely you know of a few solutions that do this?

I’m not sure if I understand your question about “alternative solutions”.

Technically all we need to do is comply with the wording on that document. To facilitate that, EMVCo came up with 3DS2, which we use so we have a defined standard that works with everyone.

But if we really wanted to, we could go rogue and come up with our own solution from scratch and still comply with the regulation.

But then we would find it hard to make it work with other banks/merchants.

Oh and similarly to contactless. Transactions below £30 don’t need to go through SCA. That’s one of the exemptions

Since getting amazon prime recently for the first time and ordering a fair few things on there.

How come you don’t have to authenticate through your app for transactions like that? Or any app for that matter?

It’s an amazon thing, they don’t ask

I am getting in touch with Amazon about testing 3DS2 with them, as well.
Right now, with 3DS1 and until the SCA deadline is enforced, it’s up to the merchant when/if they want to challenge the customer.
I assume for high-value transactions they won’t want to take the risk
