Hotel deposits not refunded on Monzo

Also happened to me recently. However monzo couldn’t even find the transaction with me and I got passed around a bunch of times so I just left it and waited the 30 days even though I had evidence.

I found out they couldn’t find it as they can’t see transactions made on virtual cards from a pot on the system apparently (at least that’s what I was told)

This is the right procedure. If the hotel has reversed the auth, they should be easily able to produce a void receipt and give it to the OP, and the Monzo should be able to reverse that. If the hotel can’t produce a void receipt that, it’s probably the hotel’s fault for not reversing it

Clearly a failure of Monzo support, though, as they should have told the OP to do this, not just wait 30 days.

Even if paying with debit card, I tend to use credit card for holds.

They do reduce credit limit, and do drop off with variable speed. But at least my debit balance is not impacted. And almost all credit cards do not charge anything on pending holds.
