Joined the f1 team thanks.
This just arrived now:
I think I’m going to go for this over Sky. I’ve got a restriction in the contract for my new place saying that I can’t stick a satellite dish up until all building work on the estate is complete. That’s not going to be until around Q3/Q4, but the price on this is good and will see me through until next season.
I’m also really happy it’s a monthly price and not a lump-sum as it previously was.
If you have good internet at the new place, go for Sky Glass - no dish needed…
Starting at £64 for the smallest Sky Glass TV with Sport?
I think I’d rather pay half that for Now at £18.99 + Netflix at £9.99.
Yeah, there is a cost involved. As there always is with Sky.
But integrated Netflix into Sky (cheaper) and the technical excuse of ‘can’t have a dish installed’ being removed makes glass a good option if you want ‘Sky level’ telly.
Nice - how did you get that? I don’t currently have any Sky subscriptions.
Is that a minimum 12 month contract, or can you just take out the 9 months (i.e. £171 for the 9 months, vs having to pay £306 for the full package for 9 months).
Thanks for sharing!
I think the Netflix subscription that’s included with Sky is SD
Yh it is, you need another add on to get Netflix upgraded, ultra hd or something
Nah sorry, I thought you were referring to something else.
I don’t think it is though, as it’s the reduced package from £33.99 - and this package you have to pay an extra £5 a month to ‘boost’ it to HD. Pretty ridiculous
Anyone else received the £18.99 a month offer yet? I would be tempted my eldest son watched F1 last season and i got into it also i have to admit, always been a petrolhead but more into rallying than F1.
Yeah received it today. Will likely go for it.
My only annoyance with Now TV is the need to pay an extra £5/month to watch on multiple devices simultaneously, but coupled with the 18.99 offer I suppose it’s still relatively cheap compared to other ways of getting Sky Sports.
Now is 720p as standard.
To be honest, for fast action stuff like F1 the picture is perfectly acceptable. I had the HD boost briefly but then downgraded again.
Yeah that’s the issue really. When I tallied it all up earlier, with full price Now Sports + Netflix, going for Sky was only about £2/m more expensive.
Adding Sky Glass on top of that pushes the price way too high. I don’t need the extra Sky channels - it would have just been a nice bonus if the price stayed that close.
With the Now offer it’s considerably cheaper to just go for that again.
The offer seems to only have gone to existing customer without a current sports pack, but I would expect a similar offer to go out to new customers too ahead of the new season.
No, here are the terms:
After 12 month offer period, Sports Month Membership auto-renews at £33.99 a month unless cancelled. Cancel anytime.
Offer ends 16/03/2022. You pay £18.99 a month for 12 months NOW Sports Membership instead of the usual selling price of £33.99 a month. Membership auto renews at £33.99 a month after 12 months unless cancelled. Saving based on comparison with standard monthly price of NOW Sports Membership. Offer lost if you cancel your NOW Sports Membership before the last month of the offer period. Offer not available to existing customers currently billed by a third party. Offer not available to purchase via iOS or Apple TV devices
If you have Sky already you can add F1 for £18 per month.
I’ll probably go for this. Do you have a link to the offer, or do you have to specifically be emailed it?
On a separate note. Ted Kravitz is a national treasure. Today’s notebook was once again top notch
Ted is the saving grace of Skys coverage! He is the best thing about F1
I just admire the fact he’s such a grumpy old man (he’s me, basically).
I actually think Sky’s F1 coverage is top notch, even Damon Hill has become less wooden over the years. It would be boring if we all thought the same though
This is what we do. Since it’s a 31 day rolling contract, if you want to maximise your usage you can stop/start throughout the season to deal with the longer gaps between races at various points and end up only paying for 7 months rather than 9 (or 10, if you buy it 1 day too early).
Without wanting to take this off topic, to get the best value when you want to add-on F1, we’ve found that the Sky packages really make sense is when you bundle in Fibre. We went from EE Fibre + TV (£43) + Netflix (£10) + NowTV (£10) + Discovery+ (£5) down to a single Sky package at £54 per month (£59 when our Discovery+ trial ends, but we probably won’t renew), with FTTP, which EE claimed couldn’t be done.
We also made use of their £200 switching credit, to terminate early and make use of some of Sky’s offers at the time.
…but I guess you don’t want to uproot your entire ecosystem just for F1?
