First Direct Chat

Without wanting to move away to far from first direct, I have to say notifications on direct debits are work well on Chase. I’m fairly sure you get notifications on when they are set up, and then the day before they are taken. Then again when paid. It’s also simple to see when they were last paid etc. Nothing revolutionary I know, but it does all work rather well. Even though I spend less on my Chase card now they have limited cash back, I have most direct debits coming from there

Nice to see something new from them

It sounds like this new scheme might be like the Visa rewards scheme that they used to run a few years ago.

Nothing beats a jet2 holiday

If it’s not built into the app properly I will not be interested. Nothing like that Santander crap.

You say that (and I agree I’d rather it was properly built in) but Santander Boosts has easily been the most worth while reward scheme I’ve had with any bank.

It would’ve been fine if they implanted it into the app; web externals etc are tacky and take away from the app experience.

It’s not too bad. I would like it if you didn’t have to log in again but the whole things feels like an app really

FD perks is live. New perks button appeared in the “more” section of the app. Takes you to a website. Easy to register. The actual perks on offer seem a bit random (cinema tickets offer, octopus energy joining offer - actually quite good but sadly already a customer, some restaurants and jet2holiday) may get better in the future hopefully?

Seems a bit pointless at the moment. I would hope it would get significantly better

Overall nothing of note available… I also found it doesn’t work. Nothing to reveal despite claiming the Cineworld offer…

It’s not what you would call well integrated with the app, given I have to set up a new profile including a new password just to access the perks…

It was like that when FD had the Visa rewards scheme a few years ago, and Barclays is the same now.

Lloyds and Halifax do it better, with everything in the one app.

TopCashback is £60 for the next 15 hours for first direct current accounts, plus the £175 for switching an account with 2 standing orders (remember to pay in £1k and make 5 debit card transactions).

Just got a notification from FD - Switching incentive of £175 which isn’t bad seeing as I’ve had an FD account several times before and also that I switched from HSBC :eyes:

Bit of a Brucey Bonus as wasn’t expecting one

Would I have to close the account I currently have with them, and then apply again? Or could I open a second one :eyes:

I don’t wanna call

I just did my application all via the App. Details all the same from the last time I had an account with FD in 2020

I can remember having to phone them for previous applications though

No idea about having a second account with them :man_shrugging:

Previous customers aren’t supposed to get a bonus, so Ian G has just been lucky, and slipped through the net. If you currently have an account with them I should think your chances of being equally lucky are next to zero. Even if you close your account and open a new one there’s no guarantee it would work.

I’m aware, but seems one of the easier loopholes to jump through
