Hi, Im off to Turkey next Friday and currently looking at exchanging money. Does anyone know how exchange rates work but also how can I tell if the exchange rate is good. For instance, today’s value is 1 GBP is equalled to 7.9778 Turkish lira - is that a good exchange?
Compared to May last year about equal, compared to Aug last year pretty good , compared to 10 years ago its great, compared to next Friday 
Even if you’re spending £1k the I wouldn’t expect the currency to fluctuate more than £40 maximum, so for me the ease of using a card beats worrying about
having loads of cash.
Although always have a spare card in case of emergencies especially if you don’t take that much cash.
