This would help out massively for me, sometimes I purchase something that I wish to use my savings to pay for and not my standard monthly allowance, but I may not have enough in my account to pay for it.

The way I get round this currently is buy it on my Santander and then withdraw from savings pot and transfer to Santander. Hassle!

If I could pay straight from my savings pot, that would be amazing.

I could but it seems a lot of work to accommodate every scenario, a simple toggle I feels makes life easy and clear with very little room for confusion of failure. I use ifttt and love it but don’t feel its right for this.

What d’you mean loads of work?

Pull $transactionAmount from pot every time I make a purchase tagged as grocery. Automates exactly what the person I replied to is doing.

Tag was a bad choice. Categorised. Which they are. Automatically. By Monzo.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I do get ya but then when I’m on holiday and I get get a bus does that fall into the transport cat or the holiday cat and similarly if I go out for a meal while on holiday is that eating out or holiday…so not trying to be awkward but I think there is more room for error with this method…

If the card was set to use money in a pot specially then it would avoid your main balance being use and you can use pots more effectively than just to build money up

moving money to and from main account is a lot of work even if you use automated options as your list of transactions show up too many and you can’t get your head around it

I always like two different locations one for bills and one for spending always helps and if that was in monzo all the better

but the current way forward it’s not the way cause monzo want split debit card from standing orders and bills and for foreseeable future will be like all banks not splitting committed spending from debit card spend

IFTTT needs to be set up before the purchase, which is the main drawback. I have IFTTT set up to take out money from my holiday pot if I spend at BA, Flybe, or EasyJet, but if I buy anywhere else it’s not automated…

I use category wide IFTT triggers, so all travel payments or all grocery payments, etc…

I tried this, however petrol stations come up as travel which skews my pot usage. I don’t consider that as travel but just utility expense (necessary just like electric and water).

I haven’t been able to figure out how to stop petrol coming up at travel so I’ve stopped using it automated based on category.

So I’m on holiday and I get a bus, is the bus part of my holiday pot or my transports pot, I don’t feel the Ifttt can tackle this as well as a pot toggle can.
