Is it a bad thing? In several regions that you’re much more likely to be using your physical card in, signature is still used.
Granted I think the idea signatures were ever acceptable in the first place to be laughable.

It is indeed.
In the ‘olden days’ years ago, I think your personal signature carried some weight, your ‘bond’ as it were and personally signing something and then reneging on it would be unthinkable and call your integrity into question - those days when folks cared about their integrity and standing.
Nowadays, I’d say that someone signing something and then denying having ever done it is probably not uncommon, plus everyone is trying to rinse you everywhere you turn through scam / fraud etc.
So yes, signature probably not worth the signature strip it’s scribbled on now ![]()
They were needed before chip and pin came in, when you had to sign the payment voucher.
Those with the multiple premier accounts, are you moving money around in circles or do you actually just have enough money to sustain several accounts with those requirements?
What bank do you work for? ![]()

We both do. We qualify on savings for the HSBC Premier account we hold, then separately qualify for RBS Premier on our incomes.
We don’t have any others. No circulation of money here needed (that would be too much effort anyway for us to deal with).
Which one do you find better, out of interest?
They are both very different products.
RBS has its benefit. With our Black Account we utilise the event booking, travel booking and concierge a fair bit.
The reimbursement of the annual fee on the Black Credit Card is also useful, and the fact there no fx fees is a bonus for us as we travel frequently.
HSBC has its benefit from the travel insurance, private healthcare which I’ve used a bit and their investments which we utilise. Their World Elite Card is also good for gaining access to airport lounge, fast track security etc.
Both products are separate but complement eachother. If one did not work well for us we would review and go from there. We wouldn’t keep a product that doesn’t suit our needs.
I’ve had both (and still have NatWest Premier Black Rewards). There is also crossover of travel insurance, lounge access, security fast track and a few other perks.
You should be getting those with your RBS account also. Unless your RBS account is different to the NatWest variant that I have. I figured they would be the same across the group.
Not really the right thread but just wanted to point this out. I don’t feel they complement each other at all, otherwise I’d have both. Unless I’ve missed something and should get both?
HSBC is also useful to us for collecting Avios where our Amex isn’t always excepted.
It works for us and we’ve had this setup for a while.
We prefer somewhat minimal financial admin so don’t bother changing accounts or anything of that nature.
I have the NW Premier Reward to net an easy £8, Barclays Premier for the Avios add-on and Apple TV, and then Lloyds used as my main account. Barclays Premier is achieved by playing the system, the others genuine.
I would say NatWest’s Premier 24 team are pretty on the ball, couldn’t say Barclays were at the same standard, but I never really call any of them. I’d say the Lloyds App is better than NatWest, despite the praise it seems to generally get.
Been looking at HSBC for a while - never used them before. Not sure how ‘Premier’ their equivalent service is, but the account itself is reasonably decent for £0. Seem a bit of a clunky old bank tbh, but I’m sure they all are behind the scenes.
Personally, I find it hard to justify the cost of NW Black over Nationwide FlexPlus, but it does get you quite a lot if you make use of all the bits.
Haven’t you met those saying Barclays has the best? I see them so often on Reddit Personal Finance sub
When the Lloyds app isn’t throwing errors, going down, or leaking your transactions data to other customers, sure… perhaps. I personally prefer the NatWest app.
For £36pm, it’s fantastic value IMO. Of course, depends on what you will use, as you’ve said.
Barclays being the best app? ![]()
Well…yes there is that ![]()
Wish you could turn on DD notifications with NatWest - can’t see why they couldn’t get that easily enabled.
Barclays really is poor show for such a big bank in 2026 (wealth and customer numbers). I’d say it’s better than Nationwide in its functionality, but so awfully clunky. Many things booting you off to a wrapped webpage rather than being integrated. And the account layouts are not matched - the current account transaction page is different to savings (which looks newer). Although think I saw they are soon to update?
I have an email from Barclays to say it’s getting a makeover:

Reads as a new improved app soon to download.
A makeover is fine.
