How do the demographics of Lloyds customers compare to Halifax? I’m guessing Lloyds tends to attract more affluent customers. Which probably explains why I prefer Halifax - haha.
One of my first accounts was with them, they was pretty decent.
Co-operative Bank is in no way any longer “pretty decent”. There has been no change for over a decade.
That might be precisely why they’re pretty decent.
I thought it was the Crystal Methodist, rather than Steady Eddy?
That was many many many many years ago now it’s now extremely steady and back in the black. The bank isn’t spectacular and doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking but it’s serves a purpose and does it well.
Surely it’s going to have to innovate at some point? It can’t live off the historic “we were the first internet–only bank in the UK, with Smile, in 1999” forever. It may be a solid, dependable bank, but with the population increasingly demanding a modern approach, the Co-op looks increasingly old–fashioned.
You’re also forgetting it’s ethical policy long before it become trendy with the newer banks.
There is still a lot of goodwill for the Co-op Bank. Maybe because in people’s mind it’s still linked with the wider Co-op group which of course isn’t true anymore.
I agree it has stagnated but in saying that any company that went through the banks problems would have stagnated.
They remind me of the old Lloyds Bank* solid but unspectacular.
*Pre TSB merger.
I wasn’t forgetting it, I’m just not sure how compatible that ethical policy is with hedge fund owners. I haven’t really investigated it too much.
But comparing it with a historical bank from 25 years ago is… a choice. By that standard, even the Lloyds Bank from the late nineties understood the need to transform, and has done so. The Lloyds of today looks nothing like the pre-TSB version.
It’s so compatible that it’s still there and not changed much since it changed hands. I know what you mean but remember they want to make the bank as attractive as possible. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
No it isn’t if anything you said how old fashioned the bank was so since we are talking about old fashioned let’s take a walk back in time. Lloyds bank then reminds me of the Co-op bank now.
Mate the everything of now is different to everything then what’s your point? A case in point. The Woolworths and C&A and BHS stores looks vastly different today then it did then. No way really?..
Can a mod please move the above exchange to a more appropriate thread, rather than the card designs conversation. Cheers. @AlanDoe @cookywook
If I’m honest, I’m a little bit disappointed you’re not called Carlo.
Next you’ll tell me that @N26throwaway isn’t really called Tom.
Nice packaging, I’m a fan!
I can’t decide if I prefer the Monzo or Revolut, so I guess that means I need both too.
It’s fully metal, I thought it was tacky but I gave it a wipe and it’s come clean. Collects dust real easy.
I actually can’t decide. Hope the black doesn’t chip, though seems solid tbf.
Haha sorry to disappoint.
Nope, just a rounded metal piece.
Oooh a PingIt card, starting to wish I’d not chucked my old cards now
I suppose they might have to be rounded to a certain degree to avoid it being sharp as the last thing you’ll want is unraveling your new card and accidentally cut a finger off
Although you would imagine they’ll also coat the edges/rounded bits in the colour too.
