Coin Jar Feedback Thread

That’s great! Thank you for your help!

I am refering to the whole bank .Its all hype and no substance.
Like " A bank for the future" (I live in the present)
“Join the banking revolution” ?
“A bank for everyone” (if you have internet) etc etc

what would you like to happen with coin jar ? you’ve had two posts since joining the community posting both of them on the coin feedback thread - the gist of them is that this bank is a joke  - its a feedback thread for coin jar - the clue is in the title of the thread  - you can either just randomly criticise with no constructive feedback , which is your right , obviously , or suggest improvements to suit your usage - suggest something that you would value , what do you think would make Monzo better , more attractive , more useful ???

lol and being “the bank for the future” they might even listen to your feedback unlike some other banks that just take your custom for granted and as a right because everybody needs to use banking services in life to function

go on join the "banking revolution " and suggest something that you would find useful or an improvement - they might just listen to you

Me when people think their legacy bank is so fantastic

They’re termed “legacy banks” for a reason and Monzo are at least a bit ahead of them all, by features and service; And judging by their roadmap, they will be ahead by huge margin by end of the year after having terminated the prepaid program.

Ok so I got my card yesterday and all I can say is I love this account and app. Does everything I need, clearly and easily and I have £1.61 in my coin jar. I have savings… it’s a new experience for me.

it does quite a few things I want , it has improvements to make , one being the number of feeds for coin jar in the transaction feed , as has been said by a lot of other users , Im seeing way too many pigs in my feed

Yeah i can see why some people would complain but as I rarely visit more than 3 shops in a day it’s not an issue for me and I know when I see a pig it means the school uniform fund is increasing.

How does Coin Jar work with foreign transactions? It looks like it takes the difference before the rate settles…just had my first one and am waiting to see what happens.

Hello @elziado

The Coin Jar works on the authorisation so will calculate when it first enters your feed. Doesn’t update to match any changes in the exchange rate.

Reducing the noise of the coin jar I think is the top piece of feedback alongside that you all love it  we’re aware and we plan to continually iterate on the model! :raised_hands:

Love it already.
I don’t need a Coin Jar line for every transaction in my feed though.

I sugest that monzo provide services like-
Mortgages .Cash backs.
SAVINGS ACCOUNTS and intrest on C Acc.
Why not use real potts or jars to put savings in. The clue is in the Kitchen

Interesting which features people prioritise. I have a joint account elsewhere and don’t particularly want it on monzo, plus it’s not solely my decision. The spending on it is also predictable and not particularly interesting (mostly bills). I guess it depends on spending patterns.

What I’d most like to see now are rules for pots/accounts, so that we can make a coin jar ourselves (or many other interesting automated accounts).

Love this feature! Only thing I missed about using Lloyds (with their version being Save The Change).

The only thing I would like to see different is to have one Coin Jar transaction per day (perhaps with the option to click to expand to see a breakdown of individual transactions?).

I feel as though at the moment it clogs my transaction feed up a little bit.

They don’t need any notifications at all if they just amend the amount.

Instead of one feed item for a £1.80 purchase and another for a pot transfer of 20p just show the purchase as £2.00 in the same way a foreign transaction comes thru at one amount but then finalises as another. The original purchase amount could always be viewed in the original merchant data when you click on it.

I think something along these lines would be the way to go. As in the future you might have multiple pots with multiple rules. E.g I spend £12.30 at Domino’s Pizza:

  • If I buy from Domino’s Pizza, put £5 into a guilt pot.
  • Coin Jar turned on.

Transaction would be £12.30, but £18 would leave my available balance. So you could have something like has been suggested with foreign transactions and grey text, but with a more general ‘Pots’ approach. And then then when you view the transaction you can see the breakdown.

Edit: I guess the question is would the user rather see the total value as the main figure, or the original transaction amount. Either could be confusing.

12.30
Added to pots 5.70

18.00
12.30 + 5.70 (pots)

I would prefer to see the actual amount of the transaction to know that I am being charged the amount I expect , but don’t want to see the pig every time I purchase items in one day

May have been mentioned further up the thread or in the Pots thread, but would be good to eventually be able to put our own pictures against the pot - some of them are a little bland/boring

Quick question. With YNAB why wouldn’t you add it as an account? That way is you need the money you can transfer it easily back to Monzo or any other account?

Really wish you could integrate YNAB and Monzo, the I can spend out of my categories and know where my money is…

I’m doing it because once it’s gone out as a purchase, it’s gone.

If I do need the money, I just do an incoming transaction from “Coin Pot”

Currently though, it means I have £20 that my budget isn’t even aware of. I’m not very good with money, so to me. This is true emergency money
