Surely the benefits you gained from leaving Chase is worth more than coming back? Surely…

On the plus side, it did highlight to everyone that it’s best to leave accounts dormant rather than closing them. Hence, I suspect rather a lot of people still having Kroo, Algbra, etc.

Does anyone by chance have a copy of the standard credit card terms? I can’t find it within the app and want to check something.

The downside of that is whether you want 22 current accounts showing up on your credit reference file. Something I have recent experience of - not 22, but you know what I mean.

I suppose it could look a bit suspicious to some authorities. Some banks close unused accounts, others apparently keep them open for ever unless instructed otherwise.

I have 18, however, it doesn’t bother me as I’ll never be looking for credit again :man_shrugging:

Not sure why?
I have about 10 accounts open at any given time. Some have been unused for many years, without any issues or closures.
I have large credit limits and I am offered yet more with new providers when I check every so often. Credit ‘scores’ are the highest they can be in most agencies.

Maybe others have different experiences though.

I think the only time I’ve had to explain my large number of bank accounts (currently 9, including joint ones) is when going through a mortgage application. ‘That one’s got a high interest rate so I’m using it like a savings account, that one gave me a stuffing bonus, that one used to be my main one but I didn’t get around to closing it. Oh you need three months’ statements for all of them?’

Can I get one of those?

For our mortgage application (Nationwide) I just gave statements for my main account where my salary goes as that’s what they wanted to see proof of. No one ever asked if I have any more accounts, or to give them any more statements.

Depends what kind of stuffing we are talking about.

Was that cashback for buying loads of Paxo?

Well it is nearly Christmas, so now would be a good time to stock up.

Sage and Onion or speciality Christmas? Buy one, stuff one free?

Knowing my luck, probably envelopes. :grinning:

Equifax flagged a Lloyds account, and 2 related savings accounts, on my file that were so old they were branded Lloyds TSB. Lloyds refused to speak to Equifax on my behalf, so I’ve to call into a branch to formally close them, taking id, to close 3 accounts with nil balance and no activity for 10 years+. Meanwhile the original branch has closed. Nice.

Equifax also highlighted 3 apparent missed monthly payments to iD Mobile in 2022, that I have no recollection of. I’m not sure how that happens when you’re forced to pay by direct debit, and no-one ever pursued me for an outstanding debt.

Same here (Halifax). They didn’t even want the statements for our joint account where the mortgage payments would be coming from and all our household bills were paid from, just each of our main personal account.

What do you mean ‘flagged’?

Sounds like a Tesco Clubcard bonus from days of old

(I meant switching, of course)
