Chase UK Chat (Part 2)

They do, I had a credit card payment from one count.

They haven’t counted mine at all.

 okay I may be wrong again, I think what counted for mine then was a transaction at Tesco on May 31st which cleared on June 1st so must have counted to June’s transaction tally. That explains why it only counted one transaction and not two, as I had two direct debits go out. I just assumed it only counted the Lloyds one and not the lottery one due to the business type.

So yes, you’re all right and it seems they don’t count.

Someone teach this man maths.

I don’t get it either. Some of us have 5 figures sat in low interest accounts. The convenience of having everything in one place is worth more than the lost interest, to some.

All of this penny pinching over a Ā£1k balance. I blame Martin Lewis… :man_shrugging:

I’m guessing you don’t have the required discipline to stooze a 0% CC? It’s not something I’ve ever done, but I hear that plenty of people do this.

This is my take, I like having my (not very significant in the grand scheme of things) savings with Chase for the direct debit payments and having multiple accounts. Moving it elsewhere would likely mean combining multiple balances into one or having balances with different providers, and it’s not worth it.

I’m steering clear of credit for now, need to learn to live within my means and the best way to do that is don’t have a credit card for now. I have an overdraft which I’m fine with and never use now so that’s a good start :joy:

Sounds sensible. Avoiding any credit is always best. Keep it up.

Would you even make much money on that? Assuming a 3% fee you’d be rolling the dice on interest rates staying stable or locking yourself into a fix which could be a pickle if the bank calls the balance back.

Easiest by far to avoid debt troubles. Too many use it as a way to get through the day, without thinking about the interest they now have to pay.

I wasn’t suggesting it as a means to make money.

Oh, you mean they buy something they want and then stooze the balance on the card in savings to reduce the purchase price?

@AlanDoe I can’t actually send a message, but you forgot this one.

The obsession with interest should be less when your interest is taxed.

Nano doesn’t have those HNW accounts though :eyes:

I thought it was Recchan not Nano Op. Unless they were the same person, too.

So much going on, we will never know :joy:

What is Nano?

Someone who used to have that name on here.

Thanks. And there’s me thinking it was along the lines of YOLO or FOMO :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
