Chase UK Chat (Part 2)

Just like how iFast customer people were clueless about the salary switch incentive yet it was in the media.

Seems its not fully ready for primetime if the button is taking you no where and no mention of who they are brokering for.

Kind of still holding out hope that they bring some kind of higher interest or expand the cashback offering for people who use Chase as their main account. I had a survey recently about my feelings towards Chase and I banged that drum again :joy:

I have the ability to apply for it:

Travel insurance is provided by Collinson, phone insurance is Assurant, breakdown cover is AA.

Never heard of Collinson, and their trustpilot page isn’t great.

I guess you get what you pay for. Will be interesting to see if you can get a quote for pre existing conditions or they just refuse to cover like Monzo.

I’ve never heard of Collinson but the rest of the insurance is crap. Assurant… no breakdown cover at home, no nationwide recovery

That breakdown cover is not appealing. This the one where I see people being told to roll their cars down the street a few metres from home so that they can call recovery.

I now have it too!

They say you can call the AA to up the cover. Although it would be far nicer if this cost was visible in app

Think a lot of people would prefer home cover, onwards travel etc on a single vehicle vs this level of personal breakdown cover

Same for me, lack of home cover and European cover means I’m sticking with Flexplus for the moment.

Trying to change my Sky TV and Broadband direct debits to Chase but I get an error every time. Do I have to call up and ask them to do it there?

It seemingly worked fine for Lloyds

Does it mention anything about covering existing conditions with the travel insurance in the policy details?

Asthma in the family really rules out a lot of the packaged accounts banks have.

It says it doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions that you haven’t disclosed to them, and that they’ve agreed to cover, and some conditions may require an extra premium. There’s then a step in the application process (which I haven’t gone through but it lists the steps) to declare any conditions, so I imaging it’ll then be manually reviewed.

Do you use the account for anything or is it zero and you checked by chance?

Thanks, I wondered if there was a bit more detail about prices etc or typical ones covered.

I’m sure the Virgin Money account just increased to Ā£14 (but that includes EU breakdown too) - so while this is competitive from Chase, it’s also a bit…basic?

Fair, I took a guess hoping it was full breakdown so that’s a shame.

The wider Collinson group runs airport lounges and the Priority Pass/Lounge Key schemes. Never really associated them with insurance though.

This could point to Chase offering lounge access as part of the benefits for their reward current account.

At first I thought it seemed like a competitive offer then I read the providers. Felt very Monzo in offering.

If they were really serious, they’d have matched Lloyds for the offerings and knocked the price down slightly below platinum.
