Arguably shouldn’t have to anyway really. I’ve never been entirely confident these ID/selfie scanning services are fully accurate or reliable.
If it’s any consolation, when I reset my phone, and had to log in to all apps again, Chase was done within 5 minutes verification
Has made me wonder though, about the beard no beard topic.
That’s possibly why NatWest didn’t let me in for years, my driving licence and passport seemingly use a photo from my teen years (no stubble or fluff), but 20 years on I’ve a bit of a beard.
Never even thought of it, so must’ve taken the photo for account application just after shave day and voila
And after checking just now I am in, it was the usual verifying screen 30 minutes ago.
Its supposed to text me but I have had no text letting me know nor push
Yeah and driving license photos seem really washed out/poor nowadays. I should have digged my passport out.
RBS just asked for my account number and some characters of my password and I was in, I expected to do the whole verify thing they have with a camera but no.
Yeah me too. I’m definitely not bald.
My blue passport pulled the picture from my driving licence, which is a picture from when I was around 16/17
Thinking of making Chase my main bank account. Any downsides for people using it for that that they can share?
I personally am not that much of a fan of the app and the spacing and many other niggles tbh but its nothing too breaking, just not a top tier app and interface imo.
Its also a bit slow especially at updating the balance when launched. I hope they change it so the balance is updated as a priority then the feed.
The £15 a month is nice but that’s about it, no cheque pay-ins, no cash pay-ins, no joint accounts just as a heads up, also a basic credit card in the works for the past year or so (they used to have a roadmap but they missed their own self imposed timeline for the credit card).
Oh and changing device with a new beard can keep you out of your app waiting for manual review for a while
As with all fintech banks you can get transfers stuck on hold sometimes but it has not happened to me yet but I will see what happens in November when the interest rate boost runs out and I move money out. Usually I believe the transfer does go through eventually but, like a lot of banks, there have been fringe cases where its different and more involved/delayed. I think it happened to someone in this thread.
I still wish they’de finally got around to letting people open accounts again. I’d consider binning off the others.
All of them?
Thank you that’s really useful insight!
Well for fintech it’s just Monzo and that’s dormant. I do tend to run one bank a time though (which is how this happened )
Literally just done this and had to do it twice
As long as you are a beardless/bearded lunatic in your phone photo and id photo
Has there been any update to a credit card or is it still coming soon?
Probably on the same time line as allowing customers to return
Who knows when. They had a roadmap of it being out last year so they were surely working on it then but they must have hit issues.
There was one of those source type articles (which can be on purpose) implying it was in testing but who knows how long it will be.
Hopefully it has cashback or flex and not a completely basic low limit credit card.
I see them moving the debit card cashback over to credit to get people to sign up.
I would be very surprised if they had a decent interest rate or balance transfers as they still don’t take cheques or cash.
Cheques and cash command physical investment.
Balance transfers etc are just digits on a screen.
I just thought they might have fitted in a cheque processing system in the jp Morgan building and cash with the post office
The nutmeg investments have existed for a while, but I noticed the redesign earlier today too. The menu used to say Accounts and just listed the current and saver account, new menu has bigger links.
A credit card would fit nicely under Spend. Still not expecting it this year though, unless they have a good promotion for Christmas spend.
I’ve just had a look and this is the reason for the change…
