Chase UK Chat (Part 1)

what it looks like has no relevance? Surely you need evidence to freeze someone’s account not just a glancing suspicion?

I think you’ll find talk radio have 1,000,000+ listeners per day, it’s still pretty substantial

With the new savings account I am really considering moving everything over. Also, while you can’t spend from your card with this type of account, it seems that you can set up direct debits to them. Will be great to earn a bit of interest on my credit card spend and have it come out of a segregated account at the end of the month.

Be great if they brought out virtual cards so can segregate spending as well

Unfortunately I have, I’m a fan of chase but I have to be honest this is the one thing I’m worried about. Where I live there is no mobile phone coverage from any of the networks, it’s very very rural deep Buckinghamshire. When we had a power cut the Wi-Fi went and I was literally back in 1974. I’m thinking of screenshot in my card details and saving it in my phones memory. Not ideal but you have to use biometrics to get into my phone so hopefully a workaround

I don’t see what this argument is all about? You can do both, I did. I opened a first direct account, the telephone banking style seem to take me back to 1999, anyway I digress, I took 140 quid close my account and I now enjoy 1% with Chase? Someone stated earlier it’s all about maximising your returns!

Just moved my emergency fund from Marcus, and it’s getting more tempting to move current account from monzo. Monzo has better features but if chase was to keep cash back on………???

And now dozens are paying out the rest of their 5% bonds early with all the interest, this is perfect timing

Just moved my savings from Marcus to Monzo to a new savings on my chase account. Thanks

I’m picturing some people at Goldman Sachs sitting in front of a graph wondering where all the money’s going :joy:

Many thoughts.

Chase doesn’t have 6 million customers.

Their service is quick for now but my flack once they start getting big numbers (complete guess but can’t believe they’re at the 1 mil mark yet, or even close)

Personally don’t find their offering too great ( I have little savings to go somewhere like that IE LISA is better)

Transfers take an age so wouldn’t be convenient by any means.

They possibly have a team for merchant data, and when :poop: hits the fan with overload they may start slowing down.

On the opposite; they do have a huge pot of money to spend so could go complete opposite way.

I think unlike Monzo they are not likely to hit financial barriers any time soon, I suspect they have a very big pot of money to play with.

It’s not really a fair competition to compare the resources of one of the worlds biggest banks with Monzo. But the comparisons will be made anyway from a customer perspective.

And this is where my life savings now reside.

How can you know it’s ‘more robust and scaleble’. Didn’t it have problems today when more people tried to use it? Seems to indicate it’s not scaling very well?

Oh I see, yeah the merchant data is better I agree

Hi. I was wondering what you used your. American Express pot for? Is that to cover your monthly repayments?

As you will know to meet the FPS payment it takes up to the next day to arrive in your account.
Not aware of any payments taking any longer than this?

There’s an old saying, never act in haste.

Everyone at First Direct is in the 50s or above. Never seen anyone under 30 with an FD card.
