Categories on item(s) in a split are retained for payments received

For example, I have a split for house work and car bills, with a couple of different categories commonly used. When my partner pays me back it would save the faff of amending the payment category. It could default to last category of payment I added at the least, with added functionality for those with Monzo perks maybe.

I think this is even more relevant for one-time splits, as there is less scope for spending to be split across several categories, so surely it’s possible to recognise the category correctly?

When you make a payment and categorise it, and then split the bill, the payment will go back to the category it was assigned by you, as long as they used the bill split process and not just sent the money.

If you change it after splitting the bill, it won’t as far as I know.

That doesn’t seem to be the case for mine, they always seem to come through as general :man_shrugging:t3:

I’ve done a mix of running split and one-offs recently and neither came through as the right category
