Ironically the approval notification when I applied said 5 days. :joy:

I have multiple profiles with Barclays so no idea how this is going to play out. Ones got my middle name one hasn’t.

Hopefully it somehow links to my Premier account profile. I can see a Barclaycard T&C document in my app now so fingers crossed. No idea how long it would take for credit cards to appear on my existing profile.

Over on Headforpoints forum it would appear something is changing on the Barclaycard avios card… hence why the sign up rules have changed so that suddenly there is a greater pool available for those who cancel and sign up again…

Maybe the free Avios card is being discontinued…………

Upgrade them to the paid card for 25k Avios bonus…

I am still incredibly salty that Barclays has a hard rule that I am not allowed to apply for any of their credit products as I have not exceeded two years of UK residency. I don’t know why they are so timid on this with individuals who have proven balances and income, has anyone seen this with any other UK credit offering?

Amex, LBG, HSBC may take you on. I know people who got HSBC accounts with credit cards in two weeks of arrival, I know those who got in 6 months at LBG and Amex. Try your luck elsewhere. Some won’t touch you until you make 3 years.

Also make sure you are registered to vote if eligible.

Thanks. Registered to vote, have an Amex Gold, personal vendetta against HSBC as I brielflg had HSBC Advanced overseas and had a very very awful identity theft experience on Christmas Day that took them two months to resolve. I’ve heard the UK arm is superior to elsewhere, but I’m just apprehensive after all the legal drama they put me through

I just don’t understand why Barclays is so cautious in their lending arm, they should be able to take on more risk IMO with high net worth clients

It’s a risk based decision.

They want to know stability and rule out you getting the card, fleeing and leaving a debt pile behind.

HSBC and Amex might be more prone as they have global offerings and could likely ban you across the globe if they needed.

All makes sense, it’s every bank’s right to balance their risk and underwriting. I just find it interesting I’m eligible for home loans but not a credit card with Barclays specifically. They seem to be very protective of their credit offerings.

Yes I can’t see how they make money on the free card.

Slightly off-topic but which tool do you use to blur out the text like this? Looks much better than scribbling or drawing a line or placing a shape over it using the markup tool.

iOS has an image editing tool to obscure text like this.

Ah, I should’ve known this. Shame you can’t seem to use it on the screenshot page and have to save it to Photos first.

Think I will end up moving my S&S ISA from Lloyds Direct Investments to this. Should save a reasonable amount on dealing fees.

I know some will say to go to T212 for even less fees, but didn’t get on with their app (bit too casual for me) and I’m not sure how well they’d manage my SIP and SAYE transfers.

Anybody with Smart Investor currently that has any horror stories?

Not sure what Lloyds offering is like but Barclays Smart Investor (or whatever it’s being renamed to) is not very user friendly, even just trying to browse what funds they had available was almost impossible on mobile.

Managed to do it on the web but even then it wasn’t very intuitive.
