Barclays Chat šŸ¦…

For a 0% balance transfer card, does the app matter that much?

I just open the card, transfer the balance, setup a direct debit for the minimum and put a reminder in my calendar to check it before it expires.

Likewise I never had much issue when I had a Barclaycard a few years ago. It did all the basics.

I was speaking generally about Barclaycard offerings. I’ve no interest in, or need for, a balance transfer. I’ve never carried a balance.

Agree though, if that’s all you are after, then I guess the app doesn’t matter.

The last time I was with them, the app seemed to be broken or giving errors most of the time. There was also an issue where the app would display the wrong name (not mine), and they were unable to resolve it.

I had similar issues with the banking side. I’ve not returned to Barclays since. The tech seemed awful.

It is still the same. I’ve had Barclaycard for 20 years and only use it for the occasional balance or money transfer offer. I only use the website which is good enough.

Their tech definitely is one of the worst I’ve used from the mainstream banks.

I have 2 profiles which causes countless problems. One profile has my middle name, one doesn’t.

My contact details are different on the app vs internet banking.

It seems current accounts get assigned to one of my profiles and Barclaycards to the other.

They said the profiles needed to be merged but the only way to do it is in a branch with ID. Both my local branches closed down. I’ve never bothered to get it sorted.

When I had a Barclaycard, notifications did not work, approvals for card purchases in the app didn’t work, my statements never showed in the app.

Despite all this, I could do the basics though. I’ve got a Premier current account now but only use it for the Avios. I wouldn’t use them as my main account.

It’s not brilliant but it’s not terrible, either. It does the basics of managing a credit card without bells and whistles. They really need to do push notifications, especially for active card checks.

I never get any errors, I’m just fickle and like fast notifications with vibrate. Why is it so much to ask for :joy:

You should appeal to NatWest and see if they will let you in. They seem to have everything you want, including vibrate?

It will take a bit of effort but might be worth it?

Are the Barclays cards still just plain blue?

Yeah the cards are still plain blue.

I’d have to visit a branch, it’s not an appeal stage, it doesn’t go that far, only part through the web form.

Might email the complaints team and attach images for their records.

That would be your best bet. A complaint from the angle of the application not allowing you to complete. They might find a flag or something simple that’s causing the problem.

Bit boring. They could at least add some eagles.

Oh, it’s got the eagle on the front I think.

Edit: it does

The future of the Barclays app? This is the business app.

Can’t find any older screen shots pre Feb/March time.

5% cashback on fuel at Tesco:

In classic Barclays fashion this is showing up on my Barclaycard app (the only account I have with them) but it only applies to debit cards.

Very cryptic error from Barclays after trying to sell shares?? I assume this is some more of that beautiful tech stack they use

It’s still blue on Android, which looks a lot better, in my opinion.

Still the old one or new design and blue?

The same as it’s been since they dropped the photos that used to come up.

Looks like they’ve got rid of that ā€œmemorable wordā€ thing on the login screen too? Mine was just ā€œhelloā€
