Anyone had issues like this with a high street bank?

I hope you said “it’s your 8k. Do you want to check the serial numbers? I’ll wait.”

Was it a very large volume of gas?

Hahaha I’d need a whole bank of tanks to store that much gas. Then @Revels would definitely hunt me down to explode them

It was a very long time ago. It was when I was buying a car and cash was king.

I’d estimate about 9 years ago. Maybe a few years more?

Yes the exact same thing happened to my Mum, she’s 85 years old took 600 quid out of her bank the week before to put into my sons account for a deposit. All good, went in the following to take cash out (she doesn’t use ATM’s doesn’t trust them) and was told her account had been blocked. Taken into a side room and asked all sorts of security questions, she was confused and little shocked. Account unblocked and she withdrew her 100 quid. The weird thing is she’s used her card as debit card for various bits. This was Lloyds

I think she’s saying she felt that way, depending on the person it can be a stressful situation.

Mum took £1k out from Lloyds recently, asked her all sorts of questions, didn’t even bother to go to side room, there and then at the till

Anyone forcing her or waiting outside etc
