An update on getting interest paid on savings

I will try it as a proof of concept if invited. But the invites seem to be like finding rocking horse S***

:monzo: should add it to the redundant Sneak Peak or Monzo Labs sections in their app that are currently sitting empty!

I’m in! Kinda frustrating as I just moved all my savings to Marcus lol

Do you hold a decent balance in your personal account?

I remember you are like me, and everything goes through your joint.

I wonder if Monzo are targeting more people with +1000 funds in their account?

I think I read previously that they wanted a random sample, including people who don’t have £1000+ in their accounts.

I’m similar, everything goes through my joint account. Before Monzo, I haven’t had a personal current account for years!

Yeah, and maybe I’m reading into things that just aren’t there - But the initial rollout of 12,000 was a long time coming… which quickly turned into another 12,000… which quickly turned into another 20,000.

So I wondered if the take up was low, and they need a bigger sample of people actually using the savings pot?

Appreciate people who don’t use it are valuable piece of data, but they won’t know why those people aren’t using it if they have under £1,000 (is it because they can’t or don’t want to?)

But life’s not that simple.

Just because they don’t have £1000 in their Monzo account doesn’t mean they don’t have £1000. That would be a little too presumptive to assume.

I got invited today.

But like others have said I wont be availing due to it being not instant access and a slightly better interest rate with Marcus.

I wish there was a way to feed this back through the invite though? instead of it looking like im just going to ignore it for no reason

Yeah im in this bracket. Only time I have more than £1000 in my current account is for the 3 days after payday then it gets quickly dispersed all over the place

I’m not saying they don’t have £1,000 full stop.

I’m saying that it would be impossible for Monzo to work out if the person isn’t using the savings account due to choice, or lack of savings.

With the people who have over £1,000 in their account, Monzo knows they aren’t using the Pot due to choice (if that makes sense).

Yeah, re-reading shows me we’re saying the same thing  I think I read things differently last time around.

Yeah, a way to feedback would be useful. Ties in with what @nickh mentions:

To be fair, it wasn’t a Shakespearean explanation of what I was trying to say :joy:

I hold a decent savings pot balance but not available balance

Here’s hoping for more joint account features!

Don’t worry, we’re also keeping a close eye on the feedback here on the forum, and other places

I’ve received the invite, I don’t have £1000 in my Monzo account and as I said in the official feedback topic…

Specifically I want to know more about Investec and their ethics, but the sort of information I am looking for isn’t on the Investec website which may mean I am looking for something that isn’t there or they don’t do.

Supporting Monzo might be enough for me to move some money to at least support the idea of Monzo being a marketplace for other financial providers. On the other hand I might be distorting the data they get from the trial if I do it just to support Monzo, or maybe that is a valid reason too  I will be looking at who they choose to partner with closely in the future.

I too received an invite. I can deal with the interest rate being 1% but the lack of instant access of savings is a deal breaker for me.

Bear in mind Monzo earn significantly more on your deposits in general, over those held in the savings pot.

0.75% vs 0.15% I believe.
