All Things Credit (Cards, Limits, Scores)

Lloyds. I have two cards. One at £15k the second at £5k. Increases in the app with no pulling strings and they ask what limit you would like. Immediate approval no additional hard searches.

I had a Barclaycard before with £9k limit that they had started cutting down each statement period due to “information from CRAs”, my credit reports were clean.

Virgin with a close second of Nationwide in terms of current limits for me (although you can currently only have one Nationwide card). However, I’ve not had Lloyds so long and it looks like they will catch up in time.

I threw this into perplexity and it said Lloyds was the most favourable, provided you’ve had the account 3-6+ months salary and bills.

And new applicants stand higher chances if they were using the debit card more before application.

Yeah I do remember reading it somewhere in the Lloyd’s app - move your salary and spending to us and we will “get to know you and what you can afford” or something like that

Perplexity explained debit card spending isn’t a factor on internal scoring, but income and stable bills creating a “boring but stable” history with the bank.

I guess it certainly does, I was rejected in several occasions despite having my salary going there. With every rejection, I was being asked to use my debit card more.
When I moved my spending over onto the debit card I was accepted in two months, same salary same circumstances.

They also have a sneaky one of “we noticed you recently made a payment for a credit card, could a Lloyds card be of use” along those lines.
I got that.

Ah nice, maybe I’ll try that then for the next few months.

Lloyds app is just not to scratch. Though @Boring recently mentioned sound for notifications coming, so maybe they’ve worked out the delayed timing of them too.

Sent money to myself yesterday and got the notification about an hour later

Those are hit and miss. Sometimes instant, sometimes delayed.

Try it and see. It was just weird, they also had all my direct debits but they wanted debit card spending.

Will give it a shot next month :face_savoring_food:

That would be a bit of a problem for me as I very rarely use a debit card.

It was for me too as I already had credit cards then, and also thought paying them off using Lloyds was already enough spending on top of other DDs.

Something that really annoys me about the Lloyds app is the un-arranged overdraft alert, I have Club Lloyds for disney plus and the other benefits which I use pretty rarely, but - and ofcourse this is my fault - as it’s not my main account it’ll often sit negative for a day or two until they text me and then I transfer in enough for a month or a couple. Linked it to Monzo now so I can see when this is about to happen..

The “You are in unarranged overdraft” banner on the account stays for days after, as does the fullscreen message when I open the app. Not sure if they’ve fixed it since it’s been a while

I guess it was fixed. The text alert is also sent in the morning by 10, so you will be notified same day.

Random but has anyone had any luck getting a credit score in Monzo to show?

Mine has never shown Equifax. Can’t match but “working on it”. For all of time.

I’ve checked Equifax - they have me. I’m there. All good in the hood.

(I thought there was a Monzo credit score thread but I’m terrible at search on a mobile and couldn’t find it).

Is your address 100% the same on equifax as it is Monzo? Including floor, apartment/apt number etc?

I had this problem historically:

Apartment 1, tower block

Doesn’t register the same as

Apartment 1

Tower block

Is Lloyds Ultra the best cashback card at the moment?

Yep both are identical.

I just don’t believe that they “work on it”. It feels static and never checked again.

Possibly try ending the credit file thing in the app, and rejoining, see if that moves it along?
