A trio of industry-first security tools to help stop fraudsters in their tracks 🔐

Hey @pshores

There are two main explanations for this:

  • If you recently turned off the feature your setup will be reset. This means that you’ll lose your configured factors and allowances and have to set them up again to turn it back on
  • We currently only support personal accounts for added security so if you have multiple account types (like a business account) you should check that you’re checking the right one

If it isn’t either of these feel free to DM me your email address, I can to take a closer look to see exactly what happened

How would I have turned them off? If I did it was accidental for sure…

I don’t think you can turn them off accidentally. Pretty sure if you try to disabled the checks, you will have to pass one of the checks to do so. Which makes sense of course.

In which case I never did which is weird but thanks!

I’ve setup added security with a limit set to £500, can I just confirm that this limit does not trigger the added security when using Tap and Go with my Monzo card at a restaurant for example?

Sorry my mistake I should have said Apple Pay which as far as I know does not have a limit?

As I understand it it’s to stop fraudulent Bank transfers and nothing to do with card payments.

The help article says I should be able to change my known location, then directed me back to the added security setting page, but doesn’t let me change my known location at all. How can I redo my known location?

https://monzo.com/help/Account%20Security/knownlocations/

tap the “here” button to change

How do I add or remove a known location?

You can do this by tapping here

direct link to change

Ahh, looks like because I haven’t finished setting up entirely so it didn’t let me edit the location. Thank you.

Last night I crrated two new instant access savings pots. As I have extra security turned on, my assumption was that any new pots would inherit these protection settings.

This morning I opened Monzo and got a couple of messages suggesting that I “Turn on withdrawal protection” for these new pots. What followed was a multi stage process to extend this protection to the new pots.

  1. Tap on the message to be taken to the additional controls screen.
  2. Tap on Edit on the "Instant Access Savings Pots section. 4 savings pots on the screenshot refers to the fact that 4 pots are protected, not that I have 4 pots. Not particularly intuitive.
  3. On the next screen, tap on Instant Access Savings Pots. Not particularly intuitive.
  4. On the next screen, check the boxes to add protection.
  5. Being returned to what looked like the previous screen, scroll down and select Continue.
  6. Choose a security control to authorise the change.

@priyesh, what’s the thinking behind this convoluted approach? If I’ve said I want a £x withdrawal limit on my pots, why not add that by default when I create a new pot?

I guess it’s designed in a way for you to pick and choose what pots are easily accessible or not.

Some you may have 0000s but then the other 00s and want immediate access.

I do agree with you though, an option to copy it across would be good.
