I’ve finally been able to get a quote for home insurance in Northern Ireland and it’s 250% above average what the heck???
They don’t want you as a customer so choose a cheaper alternative.
All of them vary which is why you need to shop around. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that you fit their risk profile.
Yup, no different to car insurance (for example). I get quotes for £20k from some providers ![]()
Thankfully there are comparison websites out there that do all the work for you.
gotta make that sweet sweet cheddar some how
They must be selling you a car
For context the average quote for my property is £35pm and Monzo is £105pm, my cover last year was less than £30 for standard cover
Given Monzo are still carrying a low Defaqto rating for their Home Insurance, you’d be wise to avoid them anyway. Defaqto ratings matter, as they assess the level of cover.
They also can’t be bought. Insurers pay to use the star rating in their advertising but they can’t pay for stars, nor can they opt out of being assessed and issued with a rating. Monzo have achieved 1 star for Contents and 4 stars for Buildings.
They have chosen not to publish these ratings on their website, of course. They are only accessible using the Defaqto lookup tool.
The Lloyds policy you’ve gone with has 5 stars. ![]()
I’ve just had my annual renewal quote come in for my home and contents and it’s quite a bit cheaper down from £23pcm to £19 - when I took it out I went for £50 excess and accidental damage cover too - and my house cover is unlimited so to be honest I’m a happy bunny
I pay £5.70 for contents and they paid out on my claim of £440 earlier in the year.
Not looking forward to my renewal ![]()
That happened to me, I claimed for a 1st floor window (the fan light fell out), the cost was a reasonable £800, when my renewal came, my insurance had gone from £300 to £1250… quick way to get your money back
Jeez ![]()
