What features would you like on Monzo digital receipts in 2020?

When I shop in-store, that store will send me a digital receipt. This happens currently in Lidl or any store that uses SquareUp payment services. It would be good for all digital receipts of this nature to automatically appear in my Monzo app against the corresponding transaction.

Almost certainly ā€˜Never going to Happenā€™ - The issue here, and it explains why Flux went the way it did, is that retailers donā€™t want to release the information/card processers as itā€™s valuable data to them. So Monzo canā€™t really do that here unless that changed, which I doubt it ever will.

This triggered a dark corner in my memoryā€¦ Anyone remember Unfurler?

It had a limited set of merchants and Iā€™m not sure if itā€™ll still work with all the changes to the Monzo app over the years.

Ahh, yes, Unfurler. Surprisingly still mostly works, itā€™s just Monzoā€™s public API makes it increasingly difficult to do anything initiative.

Thereā€™s nobody seemingly left at Monzo that wants to make the public API better (or are given the time), bugs and issues been there for years.

Unfurled worked for a tonne of merchants, especially as it worked with the fairly standardised Stripe/LemonSqueezy/Gumroad (etc) formats. Just doesnā€™t work with any physical stores.

With advancements in image AI it might be easier to do OCR and such but :man_shrugging: No real desire to invest in it while Monzo makes it so impossibly hard.
