Now in Labs: High contrast themes

Not all users having this option.

@PhilD1 will just need to create new targets, or if they remain unhappy, jump banks.

Ah, wasn’t aware that summary had already disappeared for some customers!

I did get a message to use Targets when I tried to access it but it was dismissible.

Maybe I am the only one with this issue, but once turned on, I can’t go back to “normal” contrast. I’m on iOS, should I try to reinstall the app?

Experiencing the same issue here on Android. App reinstall didn’t help

Hi Sainho,
I can’t seem to replicate your issue. When you press the toggle on and off, does anything change at all?

Looks like once you turn on “high contrast mode” in labs, you can’t disable the labs feature for it (it just re-enables everytime), but the labs feature only really makes the “increase contrast” toggle appear in the “Theme” section of my app, and this toggle is working correctly for me, turning on/off the higher contrast.

(Monzo 5.52.0 beta, Pixel 8 Pro, Android 14).

@BurnyCubbers77 You got it! Indeed, the labs feature always stays on when I try to disable it, but then I didn’t realise you could toggle it in the “Theme” section. Thanks!

Same issue for me too.

@mts Are you trying to disable the high contrast directly from labs, or are you using the “increase contrast” toggle in the “Theme” section of settings?

I should have been clearer, the toggle in “Theme” works fine, however the labs toggle doesn’t work.

If it intentionally can’t be disabled via labs, the option should be greyed out.

Hello, Yes you are correct! That has been handled now and the toggle should no longer appear in Labs, thank you for pointing it out everyone :+1:
