Currency

The official currency is the Euro (€)

Card usage

Card acceptance is widespread with chip & pin as well as contactless working flawlessly.

Unfortunately Toll Booths don’t accept Monzo cards so have either euro coins or an alternative bank card. @bhonobo confirmed that the Monzo card works perfectly on these now.

ATMs

You should have no issues withdrawing cash from most ATMs with very few charging any fees at all!

Payment and withdrawal limits

All Monzo cards have some payment and withdrawal limits. To check yours before you leave, tap on the manage card icon and then tap on Spending and card limits.

Crowdsourced merchant data

Data will most likely be scant so please try and contribute relevant feedback about transactions

Most taxis do NOT accept cards - monzo or otherwise

FreeNow is a taxi service that allows you to pay by card. Just download the app and register a payment card (Monzo inc.) before you book the cab. Was cheaper than Uber most the time.

I agree. I incur extra charges on ATM withdrawal with Monzo card in Ireland just because the transport guys would not take cards
