Monzo in Cuba 🇨🇺

Like the last person mention, you can use your Monzo card in most ATMs, but need to turn magnetic stripe on. Monzo will send you a message for this when attempting to use.
I have only used in Viñales as this is where I live and Airport, but I assume if good there good most places

I have asked Monzo to turn on my magnetic stripe for this trip to Cuba - I will let you know how I get on and if we have any luck as both myself and my partner will be using our cards to withdraw cash. We’re taking a lot of cash with us just in case

you can turn it on yourself in app for 7 days

Just got back from a two-week trip to Cuba and glad to report my Monzo card worked in most cash points. Make sure you enable the magstripe in the app before trying to withdraw cash.

More importantly, take as much cash as you think you’ll need for the entire trip and exchange that in banks rather than withdrawing cash from ATMs. Cuba is a cash-based economy and you get better rates exchanging pounds/euros/dollars than you do withdrawing money.

There’s now a Wiki page for using Monzo in Cuba here: Monzo in Cuba 🇨🇺 [Wiki]

Hi ,Monzo works perfectly in Cuba on shops and wherever Mastercard is accepted. I used my by more than one year without any problems, in comparison with other cards issued by UK Banks , so I highly recommended if you are planning to visit Cuba.

Zero problems in Cuba, card works everywhere. I’ve been using the account for the past couple of years, accepted at all Panamericana shops (no need to enable magstripe), they have terminals with chip readers. It’ll process as a debit card. All my other UK accounts are blocked.

Additionally, post-Covid the situation’s dramatically improved. Wide selection of products, shelves completely filled, etc. For most other transactions, you’re better off exchanging cash with your host or a trusted individual. Around 230 pesos per usd these days, rates on € and £ are less favourable.
