Loans

Hey all, thanks for raising this! We’re aware the states in the borrowing hub currently aren’t perfect, and we’re hoping to plan some time in the next couple of weeks to really refine it, so keep an eye out!

I’m now able to request a Monzo loan!.. One quick question: could the amount I’m allowed to borrow in the future increase or is the figure I’ve been given ‘set in stone’ now?

Apologies if this has already been asked…

What is the maximum loan amount Monzo can offer? Thanks

Short answer; yes.

It could go up, go down, or go away.

It happened to me :man_shrugging:

Slider tops out at 15k on mine.

Same for me. Be interesting in how far the offered APR is varying.

What you got for the 15k?

Loan Top Trumps could be the next big thing

After paying my 2 credit cards (£1199 + £388), the offer for a loan has disappeared :joy:

What is this? Some type of credit card ?

I really dislike that type of marketing…

No it’s a specific loan called spread the cost

I thought the point of using Monzo was to encourage saving not Spreading the cost loans

That definitely isn’t the point of Monzo. Monzo has tonnes of selling points.

The only one they lean on is “making money work for everyone”. That might mean someone is extra tight on cash one month, and that helps them free up money.

Separately, yes, Monzo has excellent budgeting features. They do also help you save by using things like Pots. It isn’t “the” reason Monzo exists though.

Yeah but that encourages a behaviour to rely on another rehashed payday loan service. Rather than looking at budgeting and going next month I should cut out (x). Further Monzo are deliberately marketing at people who need the loan to survive. Its a money making way to increase their revenue streams

 oh yes… with 20.4% APR.
First direct can offer this with £250 fee free overdraft, Monzo - not

Budgeting tools - nice feature. But Monzo is very expensive in borrowing. And if you slide a bit… you will lose all your “savings” in few days time with 0.50p a day overdraft and 20.4% loan.

That’s Bonkers

Mid range for overdraft fees and short term low amount loans are always much higher rate APR
