ISAs 💰

OakNorth allows it

In Cash ISAs do you accept transfer in/out of the account?

Yes. You can transfer existing Cash ISAs that you hold with other providers into your OakNorth Cash ISA with a minimum transfer amount of £1,000. We will contact your existing Cash ISA provider and arrange the transfer on your behalf. As per HMRC and industry guidelines: Transfers may take up to 15 days If you hold a Cash ISA with another provider from the current tax year, you will have to transfer your entire balance including interest to your OakNorth Cash ISA as part of your application If you would like to transfer in your Cash ISAs from previous years, you can transfer all or part of your balance to your OakNorth Cash ISA. These funds will not count towards your ISA allowance for the current tax year. To arrange a transfer in to your OakNorth Cash ISA account from your existing provider please email us at businessdesk@oaknorth.com or call us at [0330 380 1181](tel:0330 380 1181). You can transfer your OakNorth Cash ISA to another provider at any time. To arrange a transfer out of your OakNorth Cash ISA account, please contact your new provider.

That may be true but if the setup is anything like the Investec integration then the relationship is firmly with Monzo so what Oaknorth provides won’t be the only part of the equation.

Transfers In will require more work from Monzo and, as yet, we don’t know whether this will have been done at the time of release.

Against all expectations, we’ve launched cash ISAs. Right now!

Yesterday we said we weren’t going to have them ready by the end of the tax year. But a few things came together and we’ve managed to get them ready quicker than expected, so we’re super excited to share them with you now.

To open a cash ISA:

  1. Head to the Account tab in the app
  2. Tap ‘Create Pot’
  3. Select ‘Flexible Savings Pot’
  4. Tap ‘Open a Savings Pot ISA’

Bear in mind that your ISA allowance doesn’t reset until the start of the new tax year. So you won’t be able to pay in if you’d already paid into another cash ISA this year.

And we’ll have more news to share about some other exciting savings options soon!

1.14% interest I’m getting on my screen. £500 minimum opening amount. Still withdraw the next working day.

Congrats on managing to open it against all odds.

Great news, @anon50039658!

Are these available to use as Roundup pots?

Just opened one up

Shame that you can only have a single ISA pot  I was going to move a couple of pots into separate OakNorth ISAs (within Monzo) but the app only allows for a single ISA pot at once :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The setup flow was pretty simple :sunglasses: (grab your NI number before setting one up haha)

Super awesome to have an ISA within Monzo :tada: congrats on the early, late, early launch

Is there any chance to get these added to joint accounts before the new tax year? Me and my partner don’t use our personal accounts at all so would prefer to keep our ISAs in the joint account.

Sorry Daniel! We’re unable to enable ISAs for Joint Accounts as they are actually Individual Savings Accounts and therefore can only ever be linked to one person. Hopefully this doesn’t stop you from wanting to create one personally.

Yeah I thought that would be the issue. I guess I would ask then if we could somehow choose to display these individual ISAs (in our personal accounts) alongside our other pots in our joint account then in the future?

We like to have an overview of everything in one place and I guess this would kind of be like being able to see other accounts and cards (which you are working on).

Oh that would be nice to potentially link all accounts (include personal into joint account)

I’d be against the merging of joint and personal accounts together because to me is serves no purpose and would make everything very messy.

As I said in the Credit Card topic, my “debt” is my own and nothing to do with my partner.

Likewise with an ISA. If I’m saving for a new awesome motorbike what interest is that to my partner?

With both ISAs and Credit Cards they would be useless to my partner too because she wouldn’t be authorised to interact with them in anyway and vice-versa :man_shrugging:

So to summarise, I think it would be pointless and it goes against the reason the two different account were created in the first place.
