iOS 16

Personally, I DESPISE Samsung phones.
I’m also really not a fan of iOS and MacOS.

I’m a fan of Pixel phones (and recommend them to friends and family) or any Android with minimal skinning or alterations from stock.

You realise you can just install a different keyboard?

I had a look, but couldn’t be bothered in the end. I installed a few and they all stayed same size.

Possibly would’ve been a different experience going for the 14 not be 14PM.

Definitely magnified, I was quite excited for it but just been disappointed.

Maybe next year. :joy:

I mean the Lock Screen I barely see since Face ID just instantly rids me of it, and even if I did input a passcode it’s a moment of my life with large buttons. I don’t mind them.

As for the keyboard I don’t really see an issue. I’m typing on it now and can see every part of the text I’m writing, and tons of space for more. There’s no need nor reason for a smaller keyboard. If I wanted one, just install one… I mean isn’t that the constant Android argument… “if you want something you can just customise it”.

It’s ultimately down to personal preference, but I’m surprised you’re flirting back after such a short period. You live a very fickle life with phones and banks :joy:

I did browse for smaller keyboards but couldn’t see any in particular.

I just noticed one called Fleksy, which I may take another look, but I’m not hopeful :joy:

The one thing I don’t like about my Pixel 6a is that the keyboard is too small! I haven’t tried alternatives, though, because it’s my ‘spare’ phone.

The glory of Pixel is just heading to display settings and adjusting it all to how you feel suits best.

Completely happy with the size of text and icons - my fingers just don’t seem to land accurately on the smaller keys on the keyboard. It’s probably just muscle memory from using my 14 PM every day.

there are 2 keyboard sizes (‘Larger text’ and ‘Default’) … Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Display Zoom

then there are an additional 7 text sizes which impacts text on the screen - minus the keyboard size itself Settings -> Display & Brightness -> Text Size

Zoom is default, and text size is fine, just limited in choice to actually change the size of everything on screen, not text itself.

I’m gonna roam about with it today and leave my Pixel at home and see how I get on.

Microsoft SwiftKey app is an overall nicer keyboard.

A zoom out option as well as a default and zoom in option would be great.

Could also move the keyboard down now I’ve removed the globe and dictation icons. Seems wasted screen space.

iOS 16.5 has been released. It’s the same as RC2, if anybody has installed that already.

I love the animation but it looks like it was made in Microsoft Paint

Recent conversation here takes me back to the days before OTA software updates. Installing iOS dev betas using the IPSW file via iTunes, after paying someone to register your UDID on their developer account  (and crossing your fingers you wouldn’t brick your phone). I enjoyed the challenge back then.

I remeber doing that on an iPhone and nearly bricking it! It was worth the risk though. More fun I think.

I’ll be passing on the beta this year I think for different reasons.

I did it going from iOS 3 to 4 :calling: Eventually sorted it via DFU mode. The process was more enjoyable than the end state :joy:

I’m right in saying 16.5 is going to be the last release before 17 (minus security patches)?

You’ll be on The Apprentice at this rate!

You can change the Apple ID just for the beta updates so could easily just use a burner account that is linked to a developer account. Can see it being that Apple ID logins are sold for the money you are suggesting for the purpose of only doing that.
Is there a restriction on how many apple ids can be linked to a dev account?
