Introducing Monzo Aura ✨

They also just launched a double payday.

Which makes those perks worth even less

Indeed, but it is never going to please everyone. I would like it but don’t think the fee is worthwhile for me unfortunately. Good to see them continuing to launch new products nonetheless.

Will this card be a part of the World Mastercard or World Elite Mastercard collection? I think there are some additional Mastercard perks if the card is part of one of those schemes (although I don’t know much about them).

It’s Flex with some perks added, hardly innovative.

Investments already exist, and while it’s something to shout about being the first card allowed to invest (surprised this passed the FCA rules on credit cards and gambling as such), it’s not really anything different product wise.

Innovative is your word, not mine…

I’m curious about the naming, most of Monzo’s plans and products tie in with what they offer:

Flex - allows you to flex purchases
Extra - gives extra benefits
Perks - gives you Perks
Max - the maximum plan that Monzo offers

Reading the OP it sounds like the “aura” of the card is the main reason for the name rather than what it actually offers?

Here’s the original source:

I was thinking this. I guess as it’s ’Cashback’ it’s technically not credit used as investment so allowed.

I’m sure the FCA was well informed.

Does the customer have a choice if it goes to investments? Or can it go to a Savings account instead?

I’ve re-run my numbers. I actually think this offering will be of benefit for me based on the Apple TV + spends (Cashback) and then of course factoring in the investment rising (hopefully…!). I’d have to spend on it more, and I presume I can then just transfer that transaction to the Aura card.

What will happen with the fees I’ve paid already on Monzo investments? I presume they will be paid and anything from Aura will be fee-free? Can people also add investments from Monzo stocks/shares investments? Ideally I don’t want different platform/areas and rather they all be in the one place on the Monzo app as Monzo app is very busy as it is..!

Surely you choose which investment Pot the cashback goes to that you already have, not Monzo just creating a new Pot?

You can choose for it to go into investments. If you don’t want it to go into investments, it’ll go into your cashback pot. You can always withdraw from there and put it in a savings pot or use it anyway you like.

Will this new setup also invest cash back earned from activating offers at the bottom of the app?

Yes, that’s correct - it will stack on top of the Aura cashback (for example, if you have 2% on Tesco as an additional offer, the total cashback earned with Aura will be 3%).

AMAZING! This will get me to switch from amex easy!

Out of interest which Amex do you have?

This will also replace my other CCs from which I get cashback.

With the perks and cashback combined, the £15 per month charge will be worth it for me. I know everyone has a different set of circumstances, but if the numbers stack up, it’s a good deal.
