Curve chat

Just heard back from them.

“Thanks for getting in touch. Currently, in terms of features, there is no difference between the personal and business cards. Further down the line there might be a difference in features for personal and business users and we want to make sure you get the card that fits your needs.

We starting issuing debit cards back in January for new sign-ups however, we are now offering these for users still on the prepaid programme.”

I reckon that’s it, Andre. I’ve had one for several months. I upgraded to the Black card for reasons now long forgotten…

Must say it’s a doddle to use and I do now, pretty much for all transactions. Swopping between my own cards feels neat. Instant notifications for those times I use a credit card is also natty. No issues from me…

I initially got the Black card just out of curiosity and the wallet (which is actually really good so I consider those 50£ money well spent).

And yeah, instant notifications for my legacy credit card is definitely nice. Also foreign payments are good where Curve handles the conversion (at a 1% fee which is still better than what my legacy provider would charge). I heard you could also use it for cash withdrawals on credit cards, although I’ve never tried that yet.

It does. Either straight from an ATM or as cashback with a purchase.

What’s the alternative to the black card?

I thought all of the cards were black?

They used to have two tiers, black and blue. Blue used to be the default “free” tier, black gave you extra cashback. Nowadays I think the nixed the tier system, new users get the “blue” cashback but all cards are now black (including replacements for previous blue card holders).

I also got that email! Interested to check out the new card.

Interesting reading all these things Curve can do but never really used.

You can withdraw cash from an ATM using Curve and you won’t pay any cash fees if you use a credit card?

What about topping up betting websites using Curve? Would you pay the usual fees if a credit card is selected?

Yes, and as my credit card offers cash back on all purchases, I get cash back on cash withdrawals.

I haven’t tried this, but the website should just see that you are using a debit card and treat the transaction accordingly, I would expect (I’ve no specialised knowledge).

There is a £200 limit per month on withdrawals from credit cards. I’m not sure if that’s the case for every user but it is for me.Screenshot_20180628_120929

what is with this idiotic curve queue?
i installed app and I was ca 3500 in queue
i uninstalled app as it was moving extremely slow if at all
i installed app again to check, position is ca 3550
how can “quasi” financial company not solve this stupid queue idiotism?
why do i have to wait indefinitely, not get informed regarding moving up/down queue?
is there a warning “uninstalling app unqueues you?”
is this curve card actually a scam?

Has anyone confirmed whether or not Clubcard points can be collected when Tesco credit card is used through Curve? I’ve been experimenting recently, but seen some refunds on the Clubcard statement online, including some using Curve. Still attempting to confirm with my own data and transactions.

to get curve card of course after indefinite time, apparently…
why should i enter your ref code when you apparently already have curve card?
i downloaded curve app, entered my email, that’s it…
why should i enter your code to move up the waiting queue?
text in apps says i can move up faster (again indefinite number of places) if other people use MY ref code…
i want card to use and spend money and i want it yesterday…
why do i have to wait til morlocks take over the world?
additionally, no pay to win option…
it doesnt make sense…

The reason for entering referal code, such as 5KDHQ, is that you will get £5.00 Free!

while 5 gbp bonus certainly looks appealing, i’m really irritated by the into-infinity-extending-waiting-for-curve-card queue…

You’re right - I joined using a referral code and opened account straight away. Received my card within a couple of days

It is a feature of fintechs, Monzo had golden tickets and a queue, Starling had referral codes, they all seem to do queues, to control and manage sign ups.

Afraid not, having had kids I think I know more about goldilocks…
