If they use any form of bot then it’s not good customer service. It’s actually preventing people from contacting or making it difficult to get through to someone.
I’m sure if it had already been launched, there would have been an impact, with plenty of people happy to point it out
With a bit of humour on my side, you also have to wonder how rational some football supporters are - that and companies get blamed for lots of things they are not responsible for - HSBC UK was not directly responsible for the actions of its Mexican company or its HK arm but both have caused it reputational damage as an example
Yes, but I believe Jamie Dimon (their Chair/CEO) was particularly outspoken.
I actually like how Santander users a chatbot. For simple things, it is genuinely useful and probably quicker than speaking to a person. It is also easy to get around the chatbot to speak to an actual person.
I agree.
I can’t see the app in the Google Play store on my phone, but if I go to the website, I can see Chase UK but it says it isn’t available for my device. Is this normal or has Chase put in place some different than normal device requirements?
Its still on my Android Device - when searching for Chase UK
Im using a Moto Razr 5G with Android 11 if that helps
Mine’s a Huawei but an older version so still uses Google services. It uses their version of Android 9 I believe. The app store for Chase UK says Android 8 is the requirement so it should be fine but don’t know why it isn’t available for me.
Excellent detective work!
The bio including the tagline “the bank that makes every day rewarding” seems like a bit of a hint towards their cashback offer, too?
I’m expecting the app to go live at about 6pm today, unless they have deliberately kept it back until midnight.
Most Apple things tend to be about then, by default, as it’s the start of the day in Cupertino.
Maybe they are waiting for iOS 15 to launch?!
It looks like an Amex!
I’m sure it won’t be though. Could the thing at the bottom actually be a fingerprint reader?
Yeah, I’m a bit surprised they didn’t get out ahead of that and launch the app early, like on Android.
If they already have App Store approval, though, it should be a case of it automatically appearing at the set time - subject to potential provisioning delays and server glitches, as you say.
They may have built the app with the iOS 15 SDK, so weren’t allowed to launch it until the RC anyway?
Is the reason it not being available on my phone to do with it being Huawei? I’ve not had this issue with any other app so it would be strange if it was.
It does actually look similar to the new Amex design. If so I’d be happy with that.
I also noticed that the account joined in May 2020. Is this when they started looking at entering the UK?
Yeah it’s not far off the new BA Amex design at all!
I wonder if the numbers are on the back or if, as rumoured, it’s a numberless card?
I suppose we don’t have to wait long to find out now.
No, the Sifted article said work had been going on in secret for years.
Oh right, that makes sense!
I’m slightly surprised at them using that, as it’s usually reserved for very premium cards.
They also use Visa in the US, so at a guess I was expecting Visa here too.
Good point!
Plus the shiny logo looks “special” to customers, which helps.
The card also may be metal (if some of the rumours are true) and I think that can count as points towards World Elite status.
Fee-free transactions abroad is another thing that does, which is how Monzo is World Debit status.
I think they’ve basically said they’re just gonna pour money to it until it becomes profitable…
The biggest thing that will determine success - and that I don’t think we’ve discussed before - will be just how much it costs JPM to service each account. Monzling figures are, I think, in single pounds per user - high street banks are tens of pounds.
This, I think, will be the thing that makes or break Chase.
