Chase is a huge outlier too in this respect, being the only bank which has a card on which you can use any number of ‘card numbers’, doesn’t have one printed on the physical card, and even has an option to not have your name printed on the card!
To ticket office staff, who may not even know of this foreign bank’s existence in the UK, a Chase card will just look alien.
Of course. But there isn’t much of a reason not to allow pickup, particularly if the name matches on the card or any ID is shown. It doesn’t need to be difficult.
It was an issue for me when I was trying to buy access to Wi-Fi on British airways. Soo wouldn’t load my card details without internet connection, couldn’t get a connection without my card details……
Also had the same problem in my office which (due to the blast proof glass on the windows) has virtually no signal. Can’t order anything using that card unless I keep a copy of the card details somewhere.
I’m surprised that the card details are kept online only, surely there is no reason why the card details could not be stored on the device itself with in the app. Maybe there some rule preventing that?
Must’ve been updated (thankfully). This was last year when I had the issue and then I didn’t bother trying to use it again in a situation with poor connection
I’ve popped some savings in chase that I don’t need regular access to and yet I’m still contemplating withdrawing it all now. It’s making me a little nervous that the one day I might need it the app will be down. Or the transfer will fail.
Absolutely. The honeymoon period has pretty much been and gone now. They’ll be judged on the basics now.
At the moment the 1.5% Saver is a good enough lure. But it’s likely that customers who do stay, will stay for that alone and use other banks for current stuff.
I just hope there’s a ton of effort being put into eradicating these annoyances….
I transferred everything from my Chase savings to my Atom instant saver (1.35%) after the last withdrawal debacle. June’s interest has just been credited to my Chase account but, once again, I can’t withdraw it this morning due to their technical issues.
