Thanks! They’re two different companies – do you mean speak to the finance company for the car I sold? If so I’ll ring them tomorrow
I’d also check the documentation on your new contract. You may well find that the deposit counts as payment one, and payment two isn’t due until 1 Aug.
Sadly first payment is due in July… second ever car on finance, so not sure yet how quickly all this is supposed to work!
Typically you can do this on their portals (you might need the agreement number which is often in the direct debit)
But yes otherwise ring them. They’ll know what’s what with the monies and be able to tell you.
Sorry, not sure what you mean I could do on the portal.
When I log in on the old portal it shows I have £XXk outstanding with next payment being on 1 July.
The new finance company’s portal shows my new agreement of £YYk with first payment 1 July also.
So somewhere the figures aren’t adding up with the dealer claiming they sent the settlement to the old company on Monday. Maybe they’re slow to pick it up. Hopefully.
Well check it as you have really. Sometimes you can do more such as close it down sometimes you just have to wait.
Having said this, I’d be amazed if you had two finance agreements running at once so sounds like it’s a case of one having been closed but the portal not having updated as yet.
It might be that it just sorts itself out over the next week but a call should sort it
Just to add to this I actually remeber I had this with Cinch. They paid off the previous finance no problem but “sorted” the new finance (according to them) but didn’t actually at all. I had to ring the new finance company and do all the admin afterwards.
Good luck!
Called the old finance company. Sounds like they got the payment but it’s just been sitting in limbo with them as he said “oh yeah we got the payment so let me update the account now”.
All’s well that ends well, though I’ll have to pay the July payment and they’ll refund me a while after.
